i dont reckon blokes need as much as girls seriously! my mate took $600 with him and its lasted him fine - he didnt bother buying things like hairdryer, straighteners etc... lol and he took bedding with him which was okay for him to use and he didnt take as much clothes or shoes as im taking!

after reading all ur stuff its made me say "thank-god!"
i'm lucky i got money of my dad and keep saying to friends and family to send money out for my b'day (aug) and xmas! but the days will come and i'll think "i've got no prezzies to open!" but o well....
i knew we would have to spend heaps in walmart, due to buying bedding, food, drinks and all the other bits like a mobile phone!! but like other's i'm a spend-a-holic!! if i know i have the money i will spend it, so its going to be tough managing money!!
has anyone thought about buying a pair of straightners to share between room-mates?? it would make sense...

Its probably a wise idea money wise, but if you both have an early morning shift and need them it would lead to squabbles and tension. :-\

Yeah I agree with you Emi I am definitely going to need to have my own-hair straighteners are an essential for me! Plus what if one of you goes away...then you'd have no straighteners and argue over who takes them!! I think I have saved enough to afford these things whilst I am there, however I am such a spendaholic....its a good job I have changed all of my money into dollars on the Amex Travellers Cheque Card! Are all you guys taking cash or credit cards or travellers cheques?

Am I right in thinking you need to take a bank statement to your visa appointment?

When I had my visa appointment, i took it only to prove that I have a bank account in the UK. Anything you can prove that you intend to return is worth taking.

Will the embassy refuse your visa if you don't have enough proof of your intention to return home then?? I don't have a place at uni or anything, or a job to come back too..i do have a bank account though lol-but is that enough! Im panicking now!

get your mum to write you a letter to say you are going to be welcome to move back into the family home when you get back, I took that last time, i didn't need it but it was nice to know i had it!

When I went for my visa no one asked me what I was going to do when I returned only what I'd be doing when I was out there, I didnt take a letter up but its a good idea, just in case you get someone whos having a bad day, but with any luck you wont be needing it and they'll ask you a few questions and give you your visa
