you can get out to sanford with flyglobespan from glasgow for about 200 pounds (depending on your departure date) on their completely no frills version. I flew with them that way in the summer. It's perfectly fine so long as you bring something to do with you! I've checked out my departure date and with taxes etc it comes to 220.
yeah globespan seem to be pretty cheap - even if you had to travel to glasgow and stay over for a night it will still work out cheaper than paying 600 quid for the flight!!!
Thanks, that would be a lot better, i'll have more money to take with me then. I go the same day as you, also doing f&b
Try travelrepublic.co.uk, or .com, i've always flown through them and its been ok, if a bit frills only!
fabby, so you do you should fly from glasgow then and we can see if globespan can get us seats together. it also means we could share costs getting from sanford to the commons. there is a shuttle from sanford to int'l drive. it's possible that the clever thing to do is hop on that and once nearer to there we can get a taxi from a hotel on the street. if not, sharing a taxi would be so much cheaper!
Just so people know- my Dad phoned someone about booking their flights to Orlando to visit me, and apparently prices are going up at the end of January (I'm pretty sure it was January), so if people are planning to go with big airlines then it might be an idea to e-mail Yummy about details and book soon??
im temtped to just let disney do my flights for me, cos im guessing that way im more likely to be put on flights and arriving there with other people!! dont want to be wandering around florida on my own...
well im booking mine on friday when i get paid lols o hopefully that wont affect me too much!!!! once the flights are booked do we just email the details to yummy straight away or do we wait until our visa stuff arrives and we have that sorted? also even tho it recommends going thru a specific branch of statravel to book has anyone done this or just sorted it themselves and then just sent yummy the details? because i emailed the office about the flight and i havent heard anything back and i kinda want to get it booked and sorted so ihave everything organised is it more likely that we will be sat with/arriving with other people starting the same day as us if we let disney book our flights? from the boards it seems most people are looking into sorting their own
Yeah, same, especially as most of the return flights for the dates I need are about the same, so I don't mind paying a little extra if I'll have other people to be excited with for the 12 hour journey! And yeah, if you book through Disney I was told they try and seat you together, put you on the same flight, etc, or at least for the summer programme they do anyway. I'd've thought they'd just make a mass booking with pre-booked seats or something??
hehe,im the same as you!!!!! ive booked my flight - didnt go thru sta or anything,i just randomly booked a flight myself!!!! anyway - from what i can gather we have to email the international arrivals team in florida when we get our visas with all out travel details - so that they know what time to expect us at the commons etc! the email address is in your disney pack (its like international itineries or something like that!!) i emailed yummy about it and they got all confused and started banging on about letting disney book my flight!!!!
Hi - I'll get back to you on this asap, i'm going to see if I can find any flights from Manchester that's not to expensive, as it's only 30 mins away from me where as Glasgow is 4 and a half hours away, it would be good to have someone to fly with though
i'm trying to hold out until i get my pack before I book, and i think I'm hoping to get booked by the end of the month so I know I'll get everything reasonably cheap. but i pretty much think going to sanford is just as easy. also smaller and quicker to get through customs and everything!
im going to go through sanford too i like the idea of getting collected and having a bunch of other weary confused new people being picked up with me too lol i wont feel so scared then!
hmmm their website seems to only do flights with holidays - not one way flights, no good for us, we hope to be there a lot longer than 21 days!
if you fly into sanford you do not get collected - you have to make your own way to the housing place (by taxi, bus etc) you only get met by disney staff if you arrive at Orlando International Airport.
I just went ahead and booked my flight just now. I kept trying to phone STA in Oxford since they give the advice for yummy but the phone kept ringing out and the price of the flight I wanted had gone up 30 odd pounds since I last looked and that was only 2 days ago! So I went ahead and took the plunge. It cos me 330 in the end after various fees etc, which isn't too bad for flying into MCO. I leave from Glasgow but have a switchover in Gatwick. Maybe anyone else on my leaving day flying from there, I might be able to meet up with!
Hi Linsey, I'm going to book my flight soon with STA, send me your flight details (sarambarnes@yahoo.co.uk) and i'll see about getting on the same flight as you at Gatwick
I booked mine for april through sta travel they cost £230 for a one way trip with virgin Atlantic from gatwick although BA were cheaper at £215. If anyone is flying into Sanford have a look at the Mears taxi firm website in Orlando they have some good prices and can give you price estimate on various journeys, but it still might be pretty pricey to get to the commons area from Sanford. I emailed yummy to say i'd booked flights and they said to email disney arrivals to let them know and email yummy and disney again as soon as i get my visa sorted. Tan x x
