wouldn't say its essential, but certainly useful if you wanna stay uptodate with the people back home, i know my friend out there lives on the net
its not essential...im taking it for updating my pics and stuff for family but i still managed to do that last time without a laptop of my own i barely spent any time online while over there and if i had to check emails i usually did it on my break at work
im part of the lobster group i only burn on my face, shoulders and back tho normally so ill just slathr myself on those parts in sunscreen continually when im out there! im buying a laptop to take with me
best bet i reckon, its always good to have one with you to update your blog, i've got friends who truck them around with them, get a small screen one if possible, they're light and easy to carry, i've got a few recommendations if you PM me. i know ppl who manage fine without them, and like you said Jilly, a lot of people just check their emails in their break, sometimes its easier when you have more time at home, if your not out partying 24/7
You need to get into the Disney portal anyways to look into things like DISCOUNTS and general work stuff so you might want to DEFINATELY think about bringing the laptop!! ;D ;D
there any way to access the disney portal outside of the Commons? Just wondering if it would be possible to book stuff if you were away for a few days, anyone have any ideas?
There are computer labs set up at The Commons and Chatham but the hours are NOT always subject to yours and I found that people go there to search for things they SHOULD NOT BE looking at on a work computer!! But you MAY have a wonderful room mate like I have right now who will let you use her computer when yours is getting fixed!! It is so funny but most people sit in thier flats and chat with friends and family from home on the computer so if you really DO NOT want to bring it......don't but always a great thing to have with ya!!
yup ill be using mine to chat home - will bring my little webcam and mic as well to save on calling home. i taught my mum how to use yahoo messnger and msn when iwas away at uni and it worked out a hell of a lot cheaper to chat over there than on the phone and we have broadband so not too much lag either
yeah i talk to my friends over there using Skype, its free and allows me to make calls all over the world and not pay a penny!
yeah and you can look at the portal anywhere (there's designated portal computers all over backstage even) but for convience it's nice to be able to use it at home.
Hmm I'm not sure if I'm outside at all! I'll be in attractions in Canada - so is the 360 movie outdoors? Kidcot? Anything else you might think I'll be doing require tonnes of sunscreen and anough sun to bake me to a crisp? I don't burn ever, I just turn a strange yellow brown like a nicely done marshmallow. But I'm not a suncancer fan so yeaaaaaaah.
Working on the cart most times you are DIRECTLY in the sunlight!! I am So fair and I must make sure that I am COVERED with sunglasses and lotion....HIGH SPF..... ;D ;D Kidcot your covered.......no worries. Merchies have the promanade and they are in the sun but can go for shade....... Today is funny outside.......cloudy but sun seems to peak out alot so I am loading up on the screen today!! I work on the cart at 2:30 and will be cold later so I will be bringing my lumber JANE jacket with me!!
Its deceptively hot from what i remember, the difference i've found is its wet heat there, places like Las Vegas have dry heat, which is much better, u don't sweat, your just hot. I only got burnt the one day i was in Disney, but i'd been lying in the shallow end of a pool, lol
The merch cart outside is pretty much in the shade so not too much to worry about really. I am terrible for burning but to be honest haven't actually spent a great deal of time outside yet so haven't had to worry. I would suggest buying a good face moisturiser with added SPF as for the first few days after the trip over my face was so dry...getting used to the different weather and air conditioning. Erm asides from that just make sure you bring a few warmer clothes if you are coming Feb time as Jan and Feb are supposed to be the coldest months and trust me...for those of you who are already here...you know the weather here has been really up and down for December! It was so cold yesterday I was frozen hehe. But hey...looks a lot sunnier today xKx
Yeah Xmas Day over there was worse than most European countries, all that rain etc, lol, how cold is cold over there tho? Still a mild 20 i'd assume, hehe
Yeah, how cold is cold? Because I consider anything down to -3 (celcius) nice weather. Anything colder than that is chilly. And I really hope Florida of all places doesn't actually make *me* cold.
Omg, for SERIOUS?! Fifteen?! We had a plus fifteen day about a month ago and I was wearing a miniskirt, for Petes Sake. That's absolutely gorgeous. Okay, this five-and-a-half-month wait is officially PAINFUL.
Hot here in the UK is maybe 25 tops, lol it hits that on a regular basis in Florida, so hope you've got some suncream!
