i use vac bags quite alot, not been unlucky enough to be stopped yet, but there are self deflationing bags to now - they may not go as small as the proper vac bags but they do the trick i got some today 3 for £9.99 in argos

i know this sounds really bad... but u think the airline would let us take the pillow from the flight if we asked reallllyyyy nicely?

Im taking my US comforter if i can get it small enougth cos i got it from bed bath and beyond and dont really wanna buy another one... might take a cushion as a pillow.

i'm sure thay wont mind if u take a pilliow from the flight, u can always sneak it of in ur hand luggage!!!!! think of is as an added extra, u pay enough anyways.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. When I was in Sweden fro the year we were only allowed one suitecase of 20kg because it was within Europe, but with the US we're allowed 2 up to 35kg each aren't we? something like that anyway, so I'm going to try and get all my stuff into one case again (should be easier as it an be heavier than my one before) and then I will jsut have a spare for the return trip. (I'm sure I can get a second suitecase cheap in the US somewhere).

I used vacuum bags on both my trips over to the UK this year and my bf has used them as well. I've never had any problems. Just don't put any weird things in them that may show up in an Xray. If it's all neatly folded then vacuumed clothes, you'll be fine. Put any weird shaped stuff where they can get at it to check it out. Don't put anything sharp in them and always pack zippers to the inside of the bag and not against the plastic so it won't poke any holes.
