Walt's intended name for Mickey Mouse was Mortimer Mouse, his wife came up with Mickey.
And Walt was not Mickey's designer either, he was originally created by his friend, Ub.

On April 12, 1992, Euro Disney Resort and its theme park, Euro Disneyland, officially opened. Visitors were warned of chaos on the roads and a government survey indicated that half a million people carried by 90,000 cars might attempt to enter the complex. French radio warned traffic to avoid the area. By midday, the parking lot was approximately half full, suggesting an attendance level below 25,000. Speculative explanations ranged from people heeding the advice to stay away to the one-day strike that cut the direct RER railway connection to Euro Disney from the centre of Paris

As a precaution against any Millennium glitches, Walt Disney World had hidden portable lights and generators all over the property to insure light and essential power when the Millennium arrived. They had been placed behind potted plants so they will not be obtrusive to guests.

Since its opening in 1971, Walt Disney World has never closed its doors until Hurricane Floyd. Floyd, a Category 4 storm, was forecast to place hurricane force winds over Walt Disney World early on 15 Sept 1999. Disney closed its doors in the afternoon of September 14 to prepare and ride out the storm and stayed closed to the public on September 15.

The names of 2 of the approach procedures that all aircraft follow into their arrival at Orlando International Airport are named GOOFY TWO and MINEE TWO.

Disney World employs more people on one site than any other company in the US. During peek times it ranges between 55,000-60,000 which is about half of the Disney employees worldwide

At the Walt Disney World Resort, more than 3,500 different designs make up a working wardrobe of about 2 1/2 million pieces. Yet no one wears a uniform. Every 'cast member' dons a "costume" -- and a smile -- every day.

The fastest ride in Disney World is the monorail.

If a monorail breaks down at Walt Disney World, there is a special tractor stored in the Monorail Barn to pull the broken monorail back for maintenance.

On the Jurassic Park Ride at Universal Studios, Hollywood, there is a boat that the dinos have already attacked, and floating next to it is a pair of Mickey Mouse ears!

Next time you're at Walt Disney World for more than a day, hide a penny anywhere, under a trash can, on top of a partition in a bathroom, etc., chances are, it will be gone the next day! Supervisors use this trick every once in a while to see if the cleaning crew is doing their job.

Cast Members have the opportunity to purchase all the lost and found goods not collected after a waiting period.

WDW will not make ANY personal announcements over the loudspeakers for any reason. Not to notify guests of injuries, lost children, missing persons, anything. They don't wish to disturb or distract the other guests. The only thing that they will make an announcement for is if someone dies or is sent to the hospital for something major. So if you hear an announcement for a visitor - its always for something terrible.

  7. I will have to watch out for them. I have never noticed the ears before, and being a custodial CM this summer that is something to keep an eye out for :D

If you ride on Splash Mountain with someone who exposes themselves and if you tell a cast member they will take you to the front of the line so you can ride again and purchase a souvenir picture and apparently When they were about to open the ride to the public, and were testing it. The log was turned around and cast members testing it were sent down the big drop backwards to make sure everything was ok

In the Winnie the Pooh ride, nearing the end of the ride - as you pass through the final tunnel after "Winnie" has his "Honey Fantasy/Nightmare" and all of his friends are passing on their Honey gifts, if you look over head and behind you, you will find the three moose heads from the old Country Bear Jamboree ride. If you don't look up and back, you will miss them! The "Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" ride sits on the old, long-time location of "Country Bear Jamboree".

I want to sign up to be hurricane watch or whatever they call it for Disney! There weren't even any storms when I was there last time...

There are enough "Mouse Ear" hats sold each year at Walt Disney World to cover the head of each of the 2,500,000 men, women and children in Pittsburgh.

There are enough Disney character T-shirts sold at Walt Disney World each year to clothe every single resident of Chicago, Illinois.

At United Kingdom Rose & Crown Pub & Dining Room in Epcot World Showcase, a specially designed ale warmer can heat your Guinness to 55 degrees, the temperature favored by Brits.
