we need to check how fast the connection is, cause if it's slow it won't be useful for downloading music. ???

OooO so glad we have internet in our rooms, I'll defo be paying the $15 extra.. can't live without movie/music downloads..
I'm in a bit of a dilemma tho, I have a great desktop PC which is stacked with about 60gigs of music/movies .. of course I can't bring the PC with me (& dunno if i wanna risk bringing the HDD in my suitcase!) so im forced to buy a laptop here so i have time to load stuff onto it..
Problem is, my budget is about £200 and although that buys all the processing power I need, it doesn't leave much room for storage space.. So just dunno what to do.. maybe i'll buy a sturdy external HDD to bring all my stuff on..
Anway, does anyone know how many apts have a wireless router, i mean they aren't that cheap and I don't imagine everyone there is a frequent net user..
Just debating whether to shell out on a wireless card, thats all..

    c u all soon... arghhhh!

@crest ... does that mean that thhave to purchase one?ere is some big wireless router on the complex.. so each apt doesn't have to purchase one?

You just need a USB cable and plug it in into the wall in the livingroom. It can be a little unreliable, but for the most part, it's good enough. The only reason you would need to buy a wireless router is if you want to use your laptop somewhere other than the livingroom, say in your bedroom.

I've never heard about this $10-15 thing to unblock downloading. I may have to look into that. I'd tried to download music and I know I can't do it.

You only need the Wireless Card for the laptop, not a router.

Yeah guys, you all figure it out so you can tell me when I get there. I guess there are some advantages to arriving last!

My laptop is sometimes able to pick up wireless networks in Orlando in my apt, but if you want to use your laptop on the network that's in the commons wirelessly, you will need a router. I just keep mine plugged in in the livingroom and it's not really a problem. It's really simple. Just plug it in and open your browser or msn and everything works. No set up at all.

you need both a router in your apartment disney doesnot provide one, but maybe your roomate will have one already. To use the router you will need a wireless network card in your laptop other wise there is not point on haveing a wireless router.

If you mean an internet cable I imagine you would need a standard CAT-5 (I think that's what it's called) cable, but if you've got the wrong one I wouldn't imagine it costing more than $10-20 to get a new one.

You need an ethernet cable. Not sure if you guys call it the same thing or not. It looks like a slightly bigger version of our telephone cord ends.
