Yeah WPA is the most secure that you can currently get, I am going to be getting a router for my flat, I like to write in bed, and won't be doing that with an ethernet... So router here I come

 

Sorry I just realised I may have missunderstood your question. If it was about how secure the network is (ie the network you are connected to when plugged into the wall) then I have no clue and hopefully someone else has an idea.

 

Have to admit I was NOT going to spend any more then I had to so I jsut bought a 14' ethernet cable!! That will do me just fine!! I will unplug it and bring it in my room to lock up when I am not using it!! Although I have been known to SHARE once in a while so I will PERHAPS leave it out!! ;D

 

You know I think I might just do that as well, unless my roomates wanna get a router and split the costs...

 

We got a router... it was about $60. But it comes in really handy. As for the ethernet ports, there are only 4 of them, not 5, at least in our room anyways. But ya, routers are good because they provide an extra security measure... I wouldn't worry too much about how secure the connection is.

 

ok I have a wireless router but now I'm all scared about getting hacked....better bring the manual with me.

the ethernet cable is supposed to be connected to the LAN port of my laptop?
Just to make sure, is it the one with this symbol?
