By the way... do you know if there's a web site where I can find some info about this topic?? Especially church organization where we're gonna live!
Just to let you know the name of the so called "boss" at the Commons.....it's Suzy. She is super nice and helpful!! But be patient with her....she has a lot to do over at the clubhouse, and is busy. Be nice to her....she does a lot there!!
Oh, and could you tell her Jacqueline from Canada says hello when you go if you remember? She'll remember who I am!
Can somebody give me some more information about this First Baptist Church of Lake Buena Vista because the internet doesn't really help, apparently they do not have their webpages well in order. Give some info on the songs, the type of sermons, the size of youth groups (if visible), etc... That would be very helpful!
Hey guys I'm happy to know that there are chances of going to church... I might be working at Epcot this coming december... I value my relationship with God a lot, and coming there for one year would mean leave my church for one year, which can let you down a little bit... I hope the culture representative program is not just about parties drinking and getting drunk.. I hope i'll be able to find some pentecostal or simply christian churches over there to keep my relation with God strong.. any advice?
Mary Queen of the Universe is... an experience haha. It's massive and always has hoards of tourists (unsurprisingly) and tour groups. The priest usually welcomes everyone country by country and last time I went it was a big part of the sermon - all "who's from Canadaaaaa" and the crowd goes wild, "who's from the United Kingdooommm" and the crowd murmur with appreciation... "who's from the United States of Americaaaaaa" and the crowd go absolutely nuts. Haha. We once found this place called "The Rock Church". We assumed it was do to with Peter or something. But no... it was a rock church. It was pretty immense. The celebrate ALL DAY and break at lunch time for pizza. There is much grooving and hands in the air and other things that Brits get very uncomfortable about I'd be interested in knowing about evensong anywhere nearby. Jacksonville keeps coming up but it's a bit of a trek! Some interesting stuff about the Poly services. I went once it was really nice. (that's quite something coming from someone who only goes when mummy drags.)
ah yeah i went to the polynesian when i was a kid, it was so nice and relaxed! then when they stopped them we went to mary queen of the universe...i've never seen a church ask you for so much money! haha. still, it's alright there i guess, not quite the same as the polynesian though
Mary Queen of the Universe Mass its absolutely amazing. The place is so quiet, and friendly. I went to Mass there several times during my program (june 07-08). The people there is super friendly and they always give away some coffee and doughnuts after Mass, they always greet you and ansk you where are you from, and ofcourse they cheer us up when they know we worked at Disney. And please!!!! dont miss the Christmass Eve Mass its sooo magnificent, they have a huge choir and orchestra, they sing all this traditional himns, its nice and its the best way to spent a Christmas eve away from home. LOL that Christmas eve I was incharge of the making dinner (cause you know us Mexicans celebrate with a Dinner on christmas eve) but I told my friends that ill cook but i was going to Mass and that the dinner will be served AFTER mass (around 2am) so they all went to Mass with me. It was my best Christmas pressent that year ;D So be sure to go to the shrine, even if your not a Catholic, cause its super beautifull. Greetings from Mexico Joel
Wow that mass sounds lovely, I'll definitely try to make it to Church for that! I've been brought up a Catholic but I only really go to Church at Christmas and Easter these days. I will tell my Mum about the church though as it will make her feel less worried about me (she goes to Church like 3 or 4 times a week), especially as it sounds like the people in the parish are so welcoming She'll know I'll have somewhere to go if I need to
I'll go check the churches out actually. The reason is that Norway, and scandinavia in all is so secular that I think it would be fun to see the "real" thing. In Norway, it's quite uncommon to go to church outside the big days like 24th of december and stuff.
that christmas eve mass sounds epic! i'll definately go if i'm not working. i also wanna go to a church that's all happy clappy (think sister act) just for the experience.
Me too! Like a Baptist church? I've always wanted to go to one! I think from the description, Matt, that the Christmas Eve mass is at Midnight or something (because Yoel mentioned it finished around 2AM) so we'll be off work for sure! It sounds so amazing, though I can guarantee I'll be crying if we sing certain carols
I would love to go to one of those Churches which are for colored people where they 'heal' each other and have the minster who screams 'praise the lord' and all sing to the rafters like in Sister Act. Just like this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4MYK3UNTS0&feature=related
That's exactly like the rock church I mentioned. Except it's in a stadium - where they used to film US gladiators in fact!
