Well, seeing as how we know crap all about the next round (and we only know that final interviews will be held late Jan) I'd say don't worry too much for now
Is anyone else hoping they go back to phone interviews for canadians? ahhh the pre-screens are freaking me out!
I REALLY hope they go back to phone interviews. Some of us don't live within driving distance from Montreal or Toronto. I can really only afford to miss 3 days-ish once.
I'm lucky to live in Montreal, but if I calculated correctly, based on the timing of the UK interviews, our prescreens should land end of November, which is when all my finals take place... So even just taking a day would be interesting hahahaha :S
I seriously doubt that if it's a prescreen it'll be before Christmas. The applications still don't close for another 2 weeks, and 2 weeks after that we're into December. Every university in the country is having exams in December, it wouldn't make sense to do it then. I think that's partially the reason why they were so vague about the next step, they timed it weird so they still have to work out the kinks.
Well it probably would have to be before Christmas, because the final interviews are late January, and they said they'd give us at least 4 weeks notice for us to plan our flights.... And they're probably off during the holidays... It might end up being mid December, but most people are done buy then anyways.
They COULD have them beginning of January. I just don't seem them doing it in December at all. Most people are either writing exams or off on vacations (I'll be at Disney World as a guest Dec 15-26)
Why January? This seems like an odd time for students seeings how my shook has mid-terms late January. I agree with the why so far comment to, Alberta is definetly a plane ride away from those places.
last year I did my phone interview on OCtober 6 but my final interview was February 10th so this year the dates are obviously really different. The process last year was really spread out so that might have been why they decided to make the interview dates closer together?
hey guys! finally got my account approved for this website lol...got my email last week like the rest of you! so excited! im currently in my third year at the university of guelph in ontario. first time applicant...decided to apply after a girl i went to high school with did the program and loved it! so the general consensus is that pre-screen interviews will be end of this month then? torontos not too far for me...just a pain that ill prob have to bus there...oh well! cant wait!
We don't even know if it's a prescreen for sure. I don't think it will be. I'd bet money on a phone interview. They said they'd give us 4 weeks notice for our final interviews to arrange travel. They'd have to give us just as long for a prescreen (like, some of us HAVE to fly to our interviews). Since our final interviews are end of January, they'd have to know who they want by end of December. I'm thinking there will be phone interviews at the end of November/ beginning of Dec.
As much as I'm rooting for phone interviews over pre-screen, I don't know how fair it would be to have people in the uk travel like crazy to get to their pre-screens and not have us do it.... we'll find out soon anyways! Also, am I the only one who finds it odd that canadian start dates are around may 14th, and we hear back waaaaayyy after people in the UK, and they all start early-mid june? wouldn't they hire those who would start working earlier? this anxiety is starting to drive me nuts! I cannot wait to hear back with more info on the interviews ahhhhh!!
Well, our start dates are earlier because our uni's let out earlier. Secondly, it's much easier to travel from Canada to Florida then from overseas. As for us having prescreens, you have to remember, you have people like me who'd have to miss about three days of classes to attend a prescreen. I don't mind missing that much for a final interview, but if I had to miss that twice, that's over a week of classes. We are also given much more notice for traveling, since arranging travel from, say, New Brunswick to Montreal or Toronto is a lot farther than most of the UK applicants had to travel. I have a time change, for goodness sake! I have a feeling we'll hear by Nov 22nd, as it'll be a week after the apps close. If it's any later than that...I'm not sure we'll have time for a prescreen or phone interview!
Hahaha I do remember, you've mentioned it a few times already hahaha. But anyways, they're never really going to be able to arrange interviews at times that are convenient for everyone! See, even if we were to hear back after the 22nd, I'd still have more than enough time to have an interview before christmas! And yeah, I understood that they finish after us, but you'd still think they'd accept canadians first, if canadians are going to start working before others...
Yeah, that's still pretty weird :S I think, what it boils down to, is Canada and the UK are two separate positions and had different applications, so they're more likely than not going to have different processes.
has anyone here done the program before? like last summer? im so curious about the whole thing...the living situation, typical work schedule, etc...also, are may 14-aug 2nd or may 25-aug 2nd your only options? like you have to stay for the duration of one of those options? i always thought you could choose to stay shorter if need be...im probably wrong though. anyways, still so pumped! is anyone going to be 21 when we get there? i will be 2 months shy of 21 which is really disappointing but hopefully there will be some lenience in our housing so that we can have a good time after work hours lol!
Yeah, those are your only dates. You can't "finish" the program early, you can only quit. I'll only be 19. So, I'm legal here, just not over there
