I'm from Calgary! I would definitely suggest going to the stampede sometime. I went three times this year, and it's really fun! ;)

Yeah, the Stampede is awesome! I was in Calgary for a few days last week. Did you see the grandstand show? I really liked it this year, haven't seen it for a few years, but I quite enjoyed it!

I didn't see the grandstand show. Actually I have never seen it and I've lived here my whole life! Oh well, sometime. :)

Lol, well that's ok... it's entertaining. And the Stampede sure as heck beats "Capital Ex" in Edmonton... what a joke...

Well where I live the closest we have had to a big event like the stampede is the time the RCMP musical ride came to town hehe

    That sounds.... exciting... lol

Now when you say musical ride... what does than entail? A carousel? And is it actually just one, not plural?

For some reason, reading about the Calgary stampede and what not makes me want to go out and try to find a mechanical bull somewhere lol I've never tried it! But when I do, I want to wave a cowboy hat around and scream yeeeeeeeee-haaaaaaw!

I actually REALLY want to go horse-back riding again! I used to do it, and I miss it! I really want to go around the trails they have at Fort Wilderness again - my fam did that once when I was like 11 - so cool!

I really need to invest in a cool cowboy hat. There are so many things I need it for clearly!

It's hosted by the RCMP once a year in different cities and they ride horses in formation along to music ... the horses are gorgeous and the skill their handlers have is incredible ... I even got to meet the riders because my dad is with the rcmp

Ahhh....... gotcha. Sorry, I was thinking like an attraction ride, but that makes much more sense. That is pretty cool, do they do any show jumping or anything like that?

no not in this particular show its mainly just formation riding though I believe most years we have another show featuring arabians doing show jumping but I haven't seen it for a while so I am not possitive that show is still around thoug both the musical ride and the arabian show are amazing to watch ...we actually do have like a carnival thing once a year called the exhibition but unlike disney it is not that clean or safe so I avoid it XD

Haha, I wonder if everyone becomes "Disney snobs" after having been to a Disney park, I know I certainly am. It's hard to go to other parks or whatever it is without seeing how lame it is in comparison.

I have only been to disney land not disnet world >< the frex (aka fredericton exhibition) is about thew worst park I have seen and I have seen quite a few ... it scares me actually exhibitions in general arent that clean amusement parks should be stationary

Once you've seen the BEST, everything automatically pales in comparison. Canada's Wonderland? Suck-tacular! Plus it's a rip-off that they call the employees cast members. Um, yeah, REAL cast members don't listen to their iPods while on the job thankyouverymuch! Not to mention that *nobody* goes into as much detail as Disney with respect to their attractions or even their queue's!

And as for fireworks, there is no competition. I saw fireworks for Canada Day, and though a decent effort, they a) lacked music, b) would not have been choreographed to said music, if it had even existed c) they just didn't sparkle as much, d) itty bitty in comparison!

Everybody else was all "OOOOOH" and "AAAAAAH" and I was like "yeah... that's nice... meh.... GO CANADA!!" ::)

I live in the capital of the province I live in and for Canada Day we had the worst fireworks we had in a while no one even knew it was over when it ended because they hoped it would get better

Victoria had mega lame fireworks... once you've seen Wishes, there's just no going back!

Yeah, I actually didn't even go see them in Edmonton... I thought, they're just fireworks, not Disney fireworks! So instead I stayed home and bbq'd some steak!
