I genuinely dont know-ive got a pay as you go phone over here, which i never pay to top up more than once every month because as long as i top up £5 a month i get unlimited free texts and a good few hundred minutes of free call time

I don`t know why but my parents are the ones paying my cellphone bill and they like pay as you go. Whatever. After a month or two they will figure out that its cheaper to go with a one year plan like I originally wanted.

fyi, my Dad went to the states today and took my cellphone with him. He activated it and texted me. So as long as Tracfone doesn`t catch onto me I`m just going to keep on internation texting, wahahahaha!

My thing is just that after having a blackberry or other smartphone for 3+ years, I can't imagine not having it. I want blackberry messenger so bad lol. I do think I'll end up going with metropcs though... it is the cheapest although i am annoyed that they only have the curve 8330.

Me toooo, I've done so much research and Metro PCS is the one with the best plan, I'm going for the $50 smartphone plan, I wanted the blackberry for the BB messenger as well, but If I have a smartphone with unlimited texting I don't need to pay those $19.99 + tax for the blackberry plan and the Samsung Caliber seems like a very good phone with very good reviews and I'd still have access to my twitter and facebook accounts, so I'm in for it. And with no contracts so it is definately a win-win situation :D

Before returning home I will be buying an unlocked Blackberry though.

Aww, I want a blackberry. Too bad my parents wont go for a $50/ month plan and I don't want to pay that myself. :(

  6. Ooh, Metro PCS looks good! I hadn't looked at them before! Awesome!

It sucks, I currently have 3 blackberries in my name and am getting a new one next month from work, yet none can be used in the USA lol... I guess I'll just be adding to my collection lol. Right now I'm using the HTC hero and its great for the web but I need bbm lol

No blackberries are available for pay as you go.

For what it's worth, if anybody really wants a blackberry, then I think Boost Mobile trumps Metro PCS. They literally offer the exact same plan as Metro PCS (for $70/month you get unlimited everything including international calls and texts to Canada), plus it's $100 CHEAPER to buy the exact same blackberry model through them. Boost also uses part of the Sprint network (so I've read/been told) so the network itself may be more reliable. Just throwing my two cents in there!

haha totally! Though I'm going down to NY to visit my sister before I head to Florida, and I'm thinking I may drop into Verizon to talk to them about getting in on her account and starting a family plan. I've already spoken to them over the phone, and I was told that it's possible for me to do that and get a Florida number and all that jazz, and not have to pay a deposit (since it's already an active account), and pay less for the phone itself - so we'll see. I'm just fuzzy on how they treat international calls/text and how much that jumps the monthly cost. Even splitting the cost of a shared plan between my sis and I, I have a feeling that it'll still be more $$ than Boost. So I'll prob still go with Boost, but I'm just feeling out every last option :D

On the plus side, at least I've already been in to Boost when Shayna got her phone there, and got to clear up any questions, check out their phones, etc! So it would literally be a case of walking in, pointing at the blackberry, pointing at the plan I want, paying, and carrying on with my day :D

but they all want a 2yr contract right??
I'll check Boost out, but Metro PCS is by far the best i've found, they give you a $25 rebate and the good thing is NO CONTRACT so i wouldnt have to pay for that extra year i wont be using the phone with every other company.

Verizon is the only one that I've come across that offers 1 year contracts, everybody else, aside from the likes of say Metro PCS and Boost are all 2 year contracts. So boo to that!

As for Metro PCS, you get more bang for your buck to go with Boost depending on what phone you buy. I've only really been looking at Blackberrys, but Boost offers the exact same Blackberry model as Metro PCS for $100 less! And they also have no contract, charge the same per month, etc, etc. Now whether or not Boost's other phone models are cheaper than Metro, that I don't know! :D Would need a little more investigating!

If we're going to the mall, you have to keep my wallet from me. Unless there's a sale somewhere...

I looked into Verizon because I really wanted the blackberry 8530 (the new curve) but I would have to put down a 400 dollar deposit... boo! On a positive note, with verizon, texting is included to the US, Canada and Mexico with all their texting add-ons. You can read that somewhere in the fineprint. I also have a friend who has loads of friends from Cali and they all text back and forth and no one gets charged. But despite that good news, their plans are more money and for what I need, I will settle with Boost. $70/month for unlimited calling and texting internationally and unlimited data sounds pretty darn good!
