If you're in F&B, you won't be allowed falsies I can tell you now. Or polish...even clear, it's all to do with hygeine. We get told that if you have your hands palm up and can see your nails over the top of your fingers, they're too long. I cut mine every 2 weeks and even after just that short time, they are technically too long. The same reason you're not allowed to wear any jewellery apart from a plain wedding band, no watches and no tatoo's, even if you cover it up. One girl just got a tattoo on her wrist and has had to have laser on it 2 weeks later to save being termed.

I also know someone who had a coach council (which goes on your record card and can lead to a reprimand) for not shaving and people who've got points for their costme being creased.

    Hey

Anyone whos is the UK food pavillion a the mo does your shoes cover your whole foot. If you were to have a tattoo along the outer edge of your foot would it be covered?

This sounds all so strict. Can't believe someone has to have her tattoo lasered off, that is going to hurt so much.

not only is that going to hurt like a b*tch its also going to be very expensive...... is it a huge tattoo then?? there were girls over then with me who had small tattoos on the inside of their wrists and used to just wear their watch over them while on shift - as it states in the disney look that you are allowed to wear a watch.

i can see the point they are making with the nails tho - you would never get away with having acrylics on in any decent restaurant in the UK - god knows how we all were allowed to have them at the R&C in 2007!

as for the Q about foot tattoos and work shoes - again it may have changed but you have to wear proper non slip shoes if your in F&B and they have to cover your whole foot (no little pumps or sling back cloggs etc) if you have a tattoo on your foot that would normally be covered when you have a pair of trainers on then youl be ok. remember also that you have to wear tights/stockings etc -your not allowed to go in with bare legs - so that may provide a little bit of extra cover if any of your tattoo was poking out of your shoes! I have a tattoo on the top of my ankle and covered it up with special make up and noone ever knew it was there.

It was only a small tattoo...the laser cost her $200 ish...but I think she just decided to keep the tattoo in secret in the end haha. You're not allowed to wear a watch in F&B...I think the no jewellery thing is a fairly new rule. At the interviews they ask you if you have tattoo's on your arms...if you do, they put you in merch and you can cover it with makeup, but you can't work F&B.

If you have a tattoo on your foot that won't be covered by your shoes, most of the girls wear an extra little sock under their tights to hide it...just remember to always cover it up. One girl forgot one day and got a coach counselling and was nearly pulled from service.

You're shoes for work should be hideous enough to cover one down the side. Loads of the girls (myself included) have these crocs...
...whatever shoes you have will be proper 'special' shoes I can assure you haha.

lol @ "special shoes - so true! ;D i had these massive shoes from walmart - they looked like lego shoes!!!!!!

my manager at the time never used to allow us to wear small socks or anything, its random how all the managers have their different pet hates!

moral of the story - if in doubt COVER IT UP!!!!!! :D

In F&B with the dress/skirt that we have to wear, do we need to wear tights or something?

I hope she doesn't get found out about her tattoo, but that is quite a bit of money to spend esp as her tattoo probably didn't cost as much as the laser. Why are you unable to wear a watch in F&B? Surely you would need it for times etc?

Those shoes do look special, how much roughly did you spend on them? lol

yes you have to wear tights or stockings or something - no bare legs allowed! they have to match your skin tone.

i guess your not allowed a watch for health & safety reasons/food hygiene. theres plenty of clocks so you can always check the time :)

Yeah because you're supposed to be able to wash your hands right up your wrists and if you wear a watch then you cant do that.

Also, nearly everyone wears pop socks as it's too hot for tights...just get the slightly longer skirt from costuming lol.

My shoes were $60 ish...I was well peeved...first I got some from Walmart ($20), but sent a pic to my manager and she said they weren't right, so I took em back. Then I got some sketchers ($35)...got told 2 months later that they weren't right either...obviously I cant take them back now, so just bit the bullet and got some special crocs.

If you know plenty of shoe shops at home, I'd say have a look before you get out here, because trying to find such specific shoes in your first week when you don't know where anything is, is a pain in the arse.

They have to be black, cover you whole foot (no sling backs, no peep toe), polishable, no decoration (ruffles, bows, flowers ect), no outside stitching (you can get away with a little bit, but if there's a lot, they won't do), no laces, no buckles (though some of the one's they suggest you get have wee ones on them) and the strap can only go once across your foot (for example, my sketchers weren't disney look because the strap zig zagged across, if that makes sense). Most importantly, they have to be non-slip. ;D Have fun with that.

It definitely get's hard with all the rules, but if you stick to them then everything should be plain sailing. You'd rather the managers remembered you for all the amazing things you did, rather than the coach counselings and reprimands ;) Though I don't think that theory applies to my friend Michelle!

I'd say in F&B definitely wear the correct colour bra. Because when it rains, it pours and if podium hasn't moved inside quick enough, you will get soaked. Then they'll probably make you get the very cold air conditioned lazy bus back to costuming to change and get a rain coat. Lot's of time wasted for something so simple!

The watch thing is particularly annoying. It came into practice halfway through my program and being an assigner who always needs to know the time...well that gets tricky! Luckily my board had a clock on it, but if we ever went manual I was stuck! Oh well, at least I didn't get gunk all over it.

Does the shoes for quick and service food and beverages most likely to be like the one in the picture you posted? I saw something like that a few days ago at the mall. Do you suggest I buy it before I get there just in case? My feet is really small and I'm not sure whether they will have my size when I get there but I'm scare that it might not be usable in the end and that it will go to waste since as you say, they seem to be 'special shoes'.

Most people get shoes like that or from Shoes for Crews (Mary Janes style seem to be popular; they're the ones I got and use at work now I'm home!)

    https://www.shoesforcrews.com/sfc3/...=c_store.viewDetailsOfProduct&partnumber=3603

If you're worried about shoes fitting, then take a cheap pair out with you (preferably polishable, non slip ones!) that will get you through the first couple of weeks. The managers will give you time to get new shoes if you need to, but you usually get until the next Shoes for Crews truck comes to Epcot. That's quite handy because you can try on the shoes and if you mention that you do F&B you get a $10 discount! Handy eh? I have stupidly long and narrow feet, and took crocs out to begin with (pretty much everyone wore them; they were Mary Jane style too) but because they were rubber and not leather, they soon got banned! But they did me until I found my other ones.

Hi guys! All this info is crack a lackin! ;D

I don't think that the whole not being able to wear a watch or jewellery thing particularly unique to WDW. I work at McDonalds and it is exactly the same there - no watch, earrings or bracelets and only a plain, non decorated wedding band.

Bacteria is found all over watches and rings etc and these rules are there purely to try and stop food contamination, also wearing jewellery can prevent the correct and thorough washing of hands. NICE! No one wants bacteria in their food!

Thanks for all the info about the shoes girls! I knew that they would have to be black, slip resistant and cover the foot but didn't know to quite how much of an extent all the other details mattered! I've looked at both of the shoes that have been posted on here and I definitely think that I will try and buy a pair of the Crocs before flying out! At least I know that they're suitable and only 56 quid...not too bad for a year and I've always wanted to try Crocs out!

Also the thing about having to wear tights or stockings came as a bit of a shock to me! I thought that due to the heat and the length of the skirt that you could go bare legged?!! That's CRAZY! gonna be so grossly ming!

I'm quite glad that we can wear vest tops though, definitely a plus point! :D

NOTE TO SELF: Buy a crap load of knee highs and white vest tops from Primark!!

Nothing new with the shoes for me as my work are so specific too, but I have a doctors note that allows me to buy non uniform standard shoes so its not too bad....

Ahhh pop socks!! I can't wear the long ones.... I have a problem with my left leg that causes it to swell and wearing constricting things is really uncomfortable. Guess I'll just have to find a way around it or explain to the Disney guys and hope they'll be ok if I wear something else. :-\

I'll def look for a pair of those shoes before I come out, but I'm arriving a few days early so will be able to have a few days to shop in the local malls.

Thank you for all the information, its been really helpful :) x

    Lol at that.

You can wear earrings for work...hoops are to be no bigger than a dime and studs no bigger than a quarter, which is quite big for studs...I use my earrings to add a bit of fun into my costume haha.

Deffo get tights at home...they're quite expensive out here (and don't take up much room in your suitcase ;)). Pop socks aren't too bad, but I know people who've got their mam to send em tights from Primark because they're so much cheaper haha.

I wore tights all the time! Knee highs were too short for me and I refused to wear a skirt down to my ankles! I was alright though, I could go get some AC whenever I wanted haha.

yeah im pretty tall so pop socks were no use for me,theres nothing worse that seeing the top of them and then bare leg and then the skirt somewhere around the knee!!!!! i tried full length stockings for a while(oh lala!) and they were fine but tights were just so much easier! have to agree tho they are for some reason pretty expensive over there so would be a good idea to stock up on them before you go over :)
