When you make a new page, you need to change it to HTML and then insert the ticker code. Then when you've clicked 'done' and gone back to your main edit page, go back to the edit paragraph bit, change the page back to normal typing mode, and the ticker should show up so you can move it to the middle!

Oh my god karri, when I first set up a blog I clicked the wrong button at some point and it was the button where I chose to set my site up from scratch with no help whatsoever and it took me soo long and in the end I gave up and started over again with a new website!! I think the easiest if you literally just want a blog is to go with livejournal or blogger or something like that!! D:
