:( i got a reply from alexis at yummy jobs.

she basically said that disney aren't able to apply for my visa until my 18th birthday and it takes a while to process it through imigration and there just wouldn't be enough time to get it back in time for the june departures

but she suggests i got to uni and look into the college program. :( so there isnt a chance basically only to wait til after uni for the international program.

its a shame they dont do departures at different times like august or september!

yer i no my 1st exam is june 14th and i'm down ramsgate tomorrow so another day off.

i'll have to talk to my unis if i decide to take another year out and its looking like a gd idea. if i got 6 uni offers once i's sure i'll get them again if my current unis don't like it.

most peeps i talk to tell me i'm mad taking another year out but other tell me to follow my heart - but my heart is trying to pull me in 2 different directions so i don't no wot to do

i know what u mean, some people dont even understand y i'd want to take one year out let alone 2! but its important u do follow ur heart because otherwise u'll end up doing something u dnt want to do .

i havent applied for uni yet because im just about to start my 2nd year at college so that gives me some more time to decide but i really dont think im ready for uni and 2 years will help me make the right decisions. its hard tho because i dont wanna end up regretting any decisions i make.

like u said if u got 6 offers the first time round theres no reason why u wouldnt get them again!

I can speak from experience on this one...definitely wait. The older you are the better the experience is. You can do so much more...go more places, renting a car is easier and the stress of being away from home for a year is a little easier to take. Going straight from high school halfway across the world to live alone for the first time is VERY hard. It's not easy when you are older either, but if you at least have some experience of being on your own and having to take care of yourself and cook for yourself and do your own laundry, etc...it makes a difference...one less thing to worry about.

It is also nice to know that you are done school and not forced to go back to school. I know lots of fellow CMs who were finding it very tough to go back to school. A lot had assignments they had to complete over their year and many were thinking about not going back. The freedom you have to do whatever you feel like afterwards is great. I've been to Scotland twice, NYC and I'm going out west to see my Disney friends in July. You'll want to travel and see all of your Disney friends, especially if, like me, you meet someone special who lives halfway around the world. We were both done school so it let us visit each other a lot easier after (he spent 6 weeks with me here in Toronto...I spent 4 weeks with him in Scotland and then another 3 weeks a couple months later) and now he has decided to come to Canada on a one-year Visa. After that, who knows...but at least we don't have school tying us down to any one place.

The one thing I can say about not waiting, is that Disney can help you decide what you really want to do. There are a few of us that have changed directions since coming home, but I still highly recommend waiting. There will be lots of people in their mid-20's, so you won't feel old!!!

    thanks to shaun.

i've been talking to the family today and they have also managed to convince me to wait, don't no how lol but i think it may have had something to do with my cousion as she was in a similar situation and took a double gap year then decided not to go back to uni which she now regrets big time!!!! and i don't wanna be faced with that as i have worked so hard to get where i am today..

so it looks like the ticker will remain the same for a very long time lol

just have to save for a holiday out there and do CP

disneydreamer gd luck in wot ever you decide to do who knows we may be on the CP programme in 2007

yeh after talking to my parents more im leaning towards going to uni in sep 06 straight after college and then doing the cp ... so who knows we may both be there 2007! but im still really undecided!

    gd luck to u 2!

Great plan!!!! Then you get to go twice!!!! Spend 3 months and see if you love it (which you will) and then it'll make you want to go on the year program even more...and face it, it might make your chances of getting accepted even better!

    thanks shan,

yer that is a huge benefit about waiting lol getting to go twice that will be so cool. thansk for you advice and help its greatly appresiated. it will also allow us e to get so much more experience in before the application that they wont wanna say no!! by the end of next year i should already have summer camp USA and working in canada under my belt.

so touch wood and roll on 2008 so i can apply
