I just find it hilarious....plonker is just such a crazy word lol. I have a couple of Australian friends too and some of their vocab is strange. Even stranger than some of your words.
sara likes to say "proper funny" . we dont sy that in scotland. i think its so funny! im no a big fan of m muffins or cakes, so luckily i wont eat them all! can you imagine if i did...it would be heaven, cookies cakes muffins and ben and jerrys! xx
i'd think i'd died and gone 2 heaven. lol linz, yeah i say 'proper' in front of a lot of things, i spose a other word for it would be totally? i always say it its sucha bad habit. i say beaut a lot as well lol, another word for great. duno if theres anymore but i will post as i realise what im sayin lol xxx
haha, like u said before, i always say like in front of things, its the geordie side of me cos all my cousins say it! xxxx
Theres so many words we say that are different tho im kindof blank! Some of the people i worked with last summer said `grand' all the time and ut `as' on the end of phrases like cool as, easy as. My bro works in NW england and there they say `gaffer' instead of mate - i find that one bizarre. xxx
Scottish words can sometimes be hard to understand - even for a Scot!! Infact this example is probably more Glaswegien! "awrite mate hows it gon, u wanna cum tae ma bit aftur yer wurk fur a wee dram?!" People from the north sorry Lindsey!! ) and especially north east use the word "ken" (no not Barbies man!) as in "a dinnae ken" which means I dont know!! I seem to be using the word "screwed" a lot at the moment as well!! Oh help! I like the fact that Americans call taps fosets!! How cool a word is that?!! ;D
lol marie i say both them things as well! lol robyn yeah like does seem 2 get used with everythin! xxx
im trying to think what else can onyl thing of boring things u prob know: pavement, car park, trainers etc... xxx
sweets, buscits, em not sure what else. we say neds for the kids that wear all the sports clothes and gold bling jewelary! lol! but i know its a glasgow thing! xx
Chips - french fries crisps - potato chips and talking of neds Linz how about Chavs! Dunno how to define a chav - its kidof like a townie/yuppie type thing... Sara/Linz help me out! xxx
i dont think ive heard of chavs, is that not the same as neds!? theres a prog on sky1 next week about them though. have to watch it and swat up!lol xx
