Guys, I was reading this in the frequently asked questions bit.

'You also get 50% off admission to waterparks and Pleasure Island (with a few exceptions). You also get 20% off merchandise and restaurant meals. Discounts at the resorts vary by season, but are typically 30-50% off rack rate, if available.'

So I guess waterparks are half price ($20US, going by my tour book). With it being winter over there, I'm sure we'll prefer the normal parks the majority of the time anyway, specially since they're free! Discount on meals will be handy too - won't need to cook all the time!

I wonder if there is a list of all the rides so we can tick them off and say we've done EVERYTHING.
I'm most excited about the safari park I think.
Cheap meals, boo yah! Apparently they have awesome giant turkey legs. (to eat, not teasing their body shape)

Oh yummy turkey legs! I went to DisneyWorld last year (for the first time!) and those yurkey legs are soooo good! Absolutly massive though. I have yet to get through an entire one :)

Hey I was just wondering what everyone was planning to do when they first arrive? Aside from settling in of course :) Magic Kindgom, anyone?

I'm jealous of you guys that have already been to WDW! Oh well guess it will just make arrival extra special for me. ;D

I definitely wanna hit Magic Kingdom first (Space Mountain here I come), but I also can't wait to go to Epcot, and Animal Kingdom too. The Studios park looks like the 'worst' of the 4, but it still looks awesome. :p

I think I'm mostly gonna be eating pre-packaged/microwave food from a supermarket or Wal-Mart cause I hate cooking anything more complicated than toast and I hear that the park food is real expensive to be buying all the time. :p

A list of all the rides would be cool to tick off - I definitely want to do EVERYTHING.

Arrr nooooooooo MGM Studios ROCKS!!! I spent AGES in there! That's where Tower of Terror and the Rockin Roller Coaster are. They also have drawing classes (great for me - I'm an artist!) and the daytime parade is so funny - "Star's in Cars" :) All the parks are fantastic. I never went to the water parks though (too cold when I went there) so I'm really keen to check those out.

Rides list definatly. If we can't get an official one, I say we make our own!

    hi Porcelain779

yes thats the flight I'm on...oh so very relieved...the thought of finding my way around LA on my own was starting to make me anxious. Where are you and your friend from?? I'm in Adelaide.

I'll be sure to look out for you..I'll be the one wondering around looking lost...probably with a Mickey t-shirt on

I'm so glad that everyone is excited - non of my non-disney friends really get it, I was starting to feel foolish... i was wondering about a big list of all the stuff to do aswell...i wana make sure I try everything...not so sure about those turkey legs tho..maybe they have a vegetarian equivalent...

Good luck focusing on exams and all that jazz!

    Hi all!

    I'M SO EXCITED! Weee! ;D

Is anyone else finding it nearly impossible to study for finals? Every time I start I just get distracted by disney-related awesomeness.

I'll be on the AMERICAN AIRLINES FLIGHT AA7372 leaving Brissy at 7.40am and then the AMERICAN AIRLINES FLIGHT AA73 (although it is actually Qantas) which leaves Sydney at 12pm. We need to meet each other at the airport!

Again, SO EXCITED! Can't wait to meet you all!

    Hi Becky!

I'm finding it hard to concentrate on my exams too.
I'm flying into Sydney from Christchurch (NZ) and then have an 8 hour wait until my flight to San Francisco leaves! I'm flying United.
It would be cool to meet up somehow, but I'm not sure where I'm allowed to go and where I'm not once I'm in Sydney without having to go through customs???

I think we need a code signal for all airport meet-ups, more than just "young person standing around and looking lost". I don't have a mickey shirt, but fully intend to get one over there.

any ideas? coloured shirt? wristbands? something red tied to our bags?

ps-don't even talk to me about exams! (why do you think I'm on here?!)

Haha the full-blown exam stress hit me yesterday. I could hardly sleep last night - law case names flying through my head!
Something to identify each other by is a good idea. It should be something obvious that will stand out, but not something stupid looking haha. I'm sure I'm gonna look stupid/lost/terrified enough in the airports as it is. ;D

    Bryce

PS How long is the gap between your arrival in the US and the departure of your domestic flight to Orlando? I'm kinda worried that 2 hours might not be long enough to get off the plane, go through customs etc, get to the right terminal, board... :-\

    Hey Bryce,

2 hours should be ok, so long as your organised with all the paperwork you need and theres no hold ups with your luggage. I've allowed just over 2 hours before my connecting flight for that reason exactly...you should be fine tho.

yes my exam study is also very neglected...between disney stuff, and pulling as many hours at work possible to get some cash I am so tired I don't even want to think about studying! So the next couple of weeks are going to be intense

Oh, what's everyone planning on taking as their formal attire for 'traditions'???

    good luck studying!!

    I'm baack! for now anyway...
the professional attire is in the look book we got. i'm thinking full jacket and pants combo, as it will be a bit cold there over Christmas (eee! Christmas!)

As for identifying features... maybe a blue ribbon/tag and a mickey head drawn on the hand?
Best of luck to all for exams!

Yeah I got the professional attire book too... I think I'm going with the skirt/shirt/jacket/stockings look :) Interchangable with pants in case it's freezing hehehe. Don't think it will be though... I went to Florida last November and spent 6 days wearing singlets and thongs!
I did a bit of a hunt on the web, and it seems the average temperatures for December/January are around 22 celcius. Sounds nice to me :)

I like the blue ribbon/tag idea. I'll put one in my hair ;D I'm getting to Orlando at 11:00pm (arrrrrrg!) anyone else getting there late?

    9.30pm. sigh...
Ok then, so we'll go the blue marker path. I'm glad to hear about the weather, we might even get to swim!

ps-anyone know if "bring your own linen" includes bringing your own pillow? That would take up a lot of space...

    Hey Loz,

Yeah, own linen includes pretty much everything - towels, sheets and pillow. Tina and I are buying that sort of stuff when we get there, like you said, too much room to pack. Apparently you get to hit Walmart on the first or second day you arrive, so you can get whatever you need quickly enough.

I was gonna take mickey ears with me, They cost about $3.60 and you can get them from local dancewear shops, For anyone in Adelaide, I got mine from Dance FX in Holden Hill.

Also for anyone in Adelaide I was organising a lunchtime/coffee/drinks on the 22nd if anyone is free and would like to come, I havent chosen a venue or exact time yet.
