I put August 2011 onwards, but still - I'd bargained on at least knowing if I was going soon, so I'd know if I needed to start looking for a job after graduating from university on not.

I was a bit eager, I was like "Im ready from the 01-01-11 >=D" So yes XD

I wanted to know sooner though so I could sort things out, OU courses, jobs, flats etc. and now its like Hmmmm awkward because I said I'd know by March and now not so much...

Oh well, So long as I do find out and then get to go I wont mind so much =] Just nicer to know sooner you know xD

Out of interest has anyone spoken to Yummyjobs as to why they keep putting the date back?

It seems bizarre that we apply in January 2011 for positions over a year later!! They keep you waiting a while but I've never heard of people applying more than a year before a start date.

I want to email them myself but just wanted to find out if anyone else had spoken to them first?? Don't want to annoy them - they probably get it from all angles all year round.

Ok now i have actually read what is on the site, someone needs to call yummy, this is a bit crazy what is disney playing it? How can they not take on anymore people this year, won't they be understaffed, unless yummy/disney took on far too many people last time?

Yeah, that's what I meant. I have emailed and just asked if they know why Disney has moved the dates.

Yeah I've also noticed that Yummy have changed the dates again to just 2012 now. Something is definitely up with this years applications.

i think they took too many people from the last lot and they have a huge wait list of people they want to send out.

Gutting though if it is from 2012 onwards thats going to be at leats a year if not more

Ok I called yummy (OH MY GOD) spoke to Jason, he was very nice.

Right so, it appears to just be a recruitment decision, from Disney. I think from what I gathered, Disney feel it is best to do it this way to save manpower, money and to allow Yummy more time to deal with applications. Jason pointed out to me that it is actually better for us, as they will be recruiting for a longer window i.e. 2012, so therefore, there will be more places available. We will all find out towards the end of March/start of April re telephone interviews. Also an update from Yummy should be on their site early next week relating to all this.

I personally don’t mind that it is in 2012, more time to save and les stress about saving, just need to not think about it until towards the end of March (easier said than done ha ha).

I think the truth behind that is actuallu that Disney were getting tired of Yummy hiring people that keep self terming and getting termed so they want them to consider it better...

I think there were 5 or 6 terminated from F&B not too long ago. And I know one girl from merch was terminated while I was there. I think about 5 self termed.

Maybe they just want a group of people who they know are 1. going to follow the rules and 2. actually stay a whole program.

The recent terminations and self-terms would've still happened, even with a year wait before coming out here. The reasons people generally self-term are reasons that don't come to light until you're here. The Terms are people not following the rules, and a wait time will make no difference behind that either. To be honest, I'm not sure why Disney have extended everything so much, but there must be a method to their madness. You have to remember that Disney are the final recruiters. Yummy have no impact on the Face-to-face results, they only deal with the paper work.

there will always be people gettig termed when i was there about 8 people were termed for theft another 2/3 for stupid thigns like calling in sick and the using their disney ids to get into the parks!, aother 2 were termed due to health (both had some issues going on)

the self terms - again there was about 4/5 for various reasons

if disney want people who are going to complete their programme - rehire us reapplicants :D after all we have proven record - have completed our programme once already and know everything about the prog :)

That sounded like I was having a go at the people who self termed - I wasn't at all. I understand people can't do it. What I meant was, as a recruitment agency, when someone gets in trouble for theft and similar things, the company will automatically point to the agency to make sure they were screened properly.

When a large number a termed around the same time it reflects really poorly on the agency. I was just wondering (outloud) if Disney had had words with Yummyjobs to screen candidates more. (Rumour has it thats why they are accepting previous CMs now)

I have worked in recruitment for a while and it is common for the client to query the agency and to find out if there was any more to it.

I didn't mean to sound like I was moaning about anyone! Sorry if it did!!

Maybe YJ should just hire us regulars who post here - after all we are clearly dedicated to Disney and have no lives as we spend all our time posting on disney related forum hehe

    just kidding

I do think there has been a shift in people form when i did my contract to now tho - it seems people want to go out there to get pi55ed more than for the whole working for disney and experience which is a shame cos its so much more than just parties or making money from tips etc...

I mean I partied there but I also did so much more :) there is so much to do and when you are actually there you find that theres even more than you thought :)
