Anyone flying out on July 18th?

Gemma...you cannot book an appointment without a letter officially, but it is possible!

James...is your visa appointment really a day before your flight?

 

James, if that is the case you are almost certainly not gonna get your passport back in time. :-\

Call back and request an emergency appointment. So long as the date you say you're leaving is the date on the DS-2019 (whether you have it yet or not ), they will try to move our appointment up.

I was in a similar situation. My appointment was for June 13th and I leave on June 18th which was rather tight for time. So I called back, explained the situation and they suggested an emergency appointment for the 6th instead. They stressed however that my arrival date on the DS-2019 must be the 18th or I would be turned away since it was an emergency appointment.

Try phoning and explaining.

Gem as Andy says, you can book without the DS-2019, just not officially. That's what I did. :-[

A friend of me is flying on July 18th too (just like me ) and she called the embassy because of the appointment today. She now has a date for July 11th! Do you think she will get her passport back in time???
My appointment is next tuesday and I am really excited about that!!!

Well i phoned the Embassy again and explained the situation and asked if there were any cancellastions but i got a firm no. i even asked if i was able to call each day and see if there are any but i was greeted with a no again. I have spoken to yummy and thay are trying to sort something out for me. I am going to try my hardest to get out there on that date but who knows.

I cant understand how a visa appoint if booked today is for 11th july. Wish it was me, lol! Well you will all have to pray for me.

Gem, i havent got the forms either, yummy just said to go ahead and book it anyway. if i were you i would book an appointment now for as soon as possible coz if you havent booked an appointment the time is running out. The lady i spoke to said that there were no appointmenst avalabole till july 18 itself. now my date is cutting it fine but 18th is a bit much. lol

so yeah yikes!!!! going on to our discussion now on msn james i would say u r better goin to belfast if u need a place to stay the night before u can get to belfast very easy the night before!!!

 

James, I'd try to speak to a different person and ask for an emergency appointment: it must be possible because Ona did it (and I believe others have too in the past). If you are clear that your appointment is the day before your flight, I would imagine from these past experiences that someone will give you one. It does seem wierd though that the person has said what they did.

 

I phoned up yesterday and got a cancellation for the 20th of June Tuesday! Was glad it was too close, let us know how you get on James!

 

I did speak to the same person so maybe she has just got it in for me, hope not tho.

I am going to try again today and see what they say, thats twice now that someone phoned up yesterday and got an earlier date. i think i may try in the morning rather than after work like i have done.

Had the same visa nightmare myself yesterday after Yummy said to go ahead and book visa appointment. The first date in London is July 18th and Belfast July 19th!! Bacially they have said to me to keep phoning everyday to check for cancellations. HOWEVER. because Im with HRC I am going to be on a different flight to everyone here anyway- BUT theres another girl called Jennie who is also supposed to be HRC and we were supposed to go together, but the problem is if one of us gets a cancellation and the other doesnt we wont be going together.

Basically what Yummy have said is that theres a high chance my date will be put back to August 8th- Alexis is going to phone HRC and check if they are desperate to have me at disney on July 18th, or if it can wait until August 8th. If its ok with them for me to go later then I will do that. HOWEVER the other problem is that Jennie needs to go July 18th really as her parents go on holiday on July 30th so she'll have no one to take her to airport/wave her offf. Her mums going to keep trying the embassy for cancellations (for me aswell) just in case, as this is cheaper than us all ringing at £1.20 A MINUTE (I mean whats that all about?!?)

Ive explained this all really badly but basically its complicated! I asked the embassy if theres anyway we can go and wait there in case someone doesnt turn up, and we cant. But we can keep phoning for cancellations, however the woman said to me they come in very sparadically, and theyve told jennies mum they rarely get them! So Im not holding out too much hope of getting one. Yummy have said to keep trying belfast, but this is going to start costing silly money- £1.20 a min just to check for a cancellation, and if i get on in Belfast then £100 in flights, plus trains etc!! Which is just stupid!!

ARRGGHHH- VISA'S SUCK!!!!

I'm finding it really odd that you guys haven't been offered emergency appointments. :-\ Unless, perhaps, they are all backed up too. :-\

I think Disney is gonna need to start petitioning the DS-2019s a lot more sharpish. Leaving things sooo late is causing major headaches for Yummy and all us UK folks. As far as I know, our wait appears to be longer than most other countries. In turn, that's gonna cause major headaches for Disney and (for IPs) for the folks already out there, that's gonna mean mandatory overtime rearing it's ugly head. :

It seems to be waiting for the 1797 (I think!) that is causing all the problems. I got offered the job 4 weeks ago, but the letter has only just arrived with Yummy, so I couldnt book my appointment for a visa until I knew it was at least on its way.

Considering disney know how long this process takes (theyve done it enough times!) You'd think they'd be a bit more on top of things! :-\

Thanks for the advice Ona. Well here it is. I was called by Alexis this morn and she has said had spoken to julie and they have decided i will be leaving the uk on aug 8th. the amount of cost involed and the time restrictions are the factors to which my date has been changed. a little later getting out there but at least i have a few more weeks to get myself sorted.

Gem, if you havent got a visa appoint then the same outcome as me maybe 8th aug too. i hope you are able to get there on 18th but if alexis suggested the same to you as she did me about belfast then things arent looking good for july 18. but look on the bright side if you get moved to aug 8th then at least we will have each other to hopefully fly with.

Got it wrong,my visa appt is the 28th of June, have emailed Alexis to see if i can book a flight before the appt so i at least now the details of that!

Just been reading the June 20th leavers board- this time in 4 weeks that'll be us!!

Will be fine to book when i get my visa back so will be six days till i go to London, hopefully some will be ok for visa, Jennie was saying today she has to go to Belfast, that s pretty annoying

 

I have to go to Belfast too Me and Jennie are flying there and back on Friday- fun stuff!

Roll on Saturday when the Visa stuff is out the way and I can actually start to relax!

At least going to Belfast means that me and Jennie are officially July 18thers again now
