Haha yeah that is true...the good thing is is that i don't really like popcorn, but i am sure that won't be stopping me from popping a few kernals in my mouth. Le Cellier is key for me to get into. That is where all the money is.

And for sure i will be on the lookout for you...help you along with whatever you are curious about :)

LOL - Sheena - I was thinking the exact same thing! I love that popcorn and I don't think the Disney image would allow you to be standing there eating some in between cutomers - and then I was afraid that I would get sick of that amusement park popcorn that I love so much if I stood over it all the time.

the only thing i can see as beeing a problem working in F&B is that im a huge cluts...so im gonna practice walking with trays (full of briks or something for weight) so i can work on ballencing techniques...i want to be one of the lucky few that get into the cellier in a few months rather than near the end....and the tips would be super good.
Im hopeing ill get sick of it other wise it will be the devil... lol

I think you will get the hang of carrying trays pretty quick...it is just finding the balance point like riding a bike...you won 't even think about it after a couple of tries. Just try not to break anything ;) (no pressure)

I'll be in f&b too. I was a little worried in the beginning because I have zero experience. The more I thought about it, the more I just got excited about it. I would've worked in either f&b or merch, but now I'm glad that I put f&b down as my first choice. The possibility of tips at some point is a bonus. Being at Epcot would've made merch fun, but I've worked in retail for the last 7 yrs, so f&b will be an exciting new experience.

It's only 3 months from June to September. It'll seem like forever to you, but I'll bet it will be a very quick 3 months for me. :)

Yeah, I'd say the change from lifeguard to f&b will be a change. I love Ottawa though. Wanted to go to Ottawa U so badly when I graduated HS, but opted to stay in Toronto instead. Regret it. My sister is out there now though.... finishing teachers college. She says she's coming back to live in TO, but I'll believe that when I see it.

So, are you one of the many in Ottawa to be bilingual? Another one of the reasons I wanted to go to Ottawa U... wanted to keep my French up.

How do you make money driving down???

You get "relo" when you finish your contract. Basically, Disney gives you back what you paid to get down there.

If you fly, you have to give them a receipt or copy of your ticket that has the price on it. So, you may not want to get the cheapest flight possible, because at the end of your contract it's nice to get a big fat paycheck so you have SOME money. It's like a little savings account that you can't touch! My last paycheck was waaay over $1000US because of all the things you get paid out for. Just a note: they will only give you back the cost of a one-way ticket...so you either have to book a one-way...or if you book a return, they will give you half of it back.

If you drive, Disney calls their travel agent and finds out what the cost of a one-way ticket from the airport nearest your home to Orlando on the day of your arrival would cost. One-ways are always more expensive and booking anything on the day off would be costly, so you can make quite a bit if you drive down and go on the cheap.

About changing your plates...i think pretty much everyone i knew that had a car down there had to change their plates. I think they had to to get the Commons parking pass. It might have been because they had to get a Florida License and your plates and license have to match.

    Hope this helps!

PS - The buses suck and you may learn to live with it, but you will always whine and complain!!! I hope for you all that it has gotten better since I was there. Complain to your managers until something gets done if you have problems. The Canada and UK managers helped us out a lot!!!!

I've heard that the bus company changed not so long ago and apparently the buses are much more reliable!

If you have a car and are thinking about driving down - do it! The bus system isn't the greatest. It is especially annoying when you've had a 9-hour day at work and have to wait for the next bus because you were a minute too late to catch the last one.

It's also convenient as you can do your groceries whenever you need to without have to take the bus all the way over to Sand Lake Road, or even having to walk a good 20 minutes with heavy bags from Publix. And let's not forget the endless possibilites of going wherever you please on your days off.
