i know about 4-6 weeks before leaving as well. nevertheless i hope to receive it very soon, as i am going to book my flight on my own next week... what about you? you take the disney flights? greetings to all of you! :)))

    quick question,

here in SA we were told that you can let disney book your flight for you and then they pay it upfront and deduct a certain amount every week from your paycheck once you get there. at the end of successfull completion of the programme they will then reimburse the money you paid during your programme for your flight. so essentially you only pay for one way.

so my question is, if you pay your ticket on your own in the beginning. do they help you with anything when you need to get a ticket back home at the end of your proggramme?

    hi
disney r paying for my ticket they take money every week about $20-30. then if u do the 12 months they pay u back so u can get home. if u pay for ur own flight u keep ur receipts n they pay u so u can get back home it is the same if u have to pay to get the airport u r flying out. e.g train, bus, taxi.
    sarah
    p.s i am going before u 17th feb

i am going to let disney book my flight i think :)

it will be the best for me.

But if disney pay for the ticket and everything can i pay the hole amount when i arrive or do i have to pay each month??

im also letting them pay my ticket. and do the deductions each week. in the end they will reimburse my ticket back.

thanks for the info sarah. i wish i could go earlier. i am so excited!

teresemor, i think you can pay the whole amount if you wish. my girlfriend told me once you arrive they inform you what the entire cost of your ticket was and how much they are gonna deduct weekly. so if you wanna pay the whole amount, i dont think they will complain!!

i got my package yesterday! :) by the way, I will take the disney flight as well, it´ll be easier i think.
i hope everything with the visa will work fine...
and i was very surprised how expensive it is! there are costs i didn´t know of before... the visa 107 €, the assensment fee 100 $, all about 300 $ for the first rent, grocerie and things like that... i will be a very poor girl before i get my first money! :)

    yay,

i hope i get my packet soon as well. i would like to go for my visa appointment before i resign. then i will have peace of mind!
lucky for me i helped my girlfriend with all her preperations before she left, so i know exactly how much everything costs before and when you get there. i've been saving like mad!

what do they say in the packet dana?

well, actually there not much new in it... just a lot of paper to sign and to bring on your dep.date like the housing rules and things like that. and one piece of paper you must sign and fax to disney directly...that you know and understand everything concerning the medical insurance, the visa, your birth application (you must bring the original to the U.S. for getting the US Social Security Card later on), your work, your background check (criminal record) and so on. and that you pay the assesment fee of 100$ before your departure. i will phone megan during the next days when i have to pay it...
and there is some information on the living and working there for you and your friends and family... coloured papers with photos and general information. :)
there is another yellow sheet about the disney look, and another one to sign, but i´m not sure what it is about (i am at work at the moment and don´t have it here with me) :)!

but you must get it during the next days as well, i think.

and i forgot to mention the personal letter for you and a checklist from megan. there is written that i´ll get the I797 (petition to the US Embassy) all about 2 weeks before my dep.date. than i must go to the consulat and get the visa. but i think i have to pay it some time before already, as i need the written proof of that i have payed it before my interview date. and i think i must call the embassy for getting a date before i receive the I797, coz it will be to short to phone there just some days before i think...

what do you mean? should i try to get an interview date for the end of february or the beginning of march now already? although i don´t have thi I797 yet???

    greetings

    hi dana,

    thanks for the info!

when my gf received her visa packet the I797 was already included in the pack. so she could make her appointment and everything as soon as she received the pack. sounds like you guys get it seperately? i think our procedures are a little different from yours. i was hoping to receive the I797 and everything before i have to quit work. i am so scared that i dont get my visa, and if i already resigned then i dont have a job anymore aswell!! :p

i think we´ll get the visa in every case, the question is just how much time we do have before our dep.date i´d say... :) let´s hope the best 4 all of us! :)

    Hi DieEwan,

I'm feeling just like you! My departure date in on March 24th but then I don't know when I'll have to resign... I'm so nervous!! I would like to have my visa before I quit work!!

the problem is that you cannot get the visa too early as it wouldn´t be valid one year after your arrival anymore then... i think you must resign 4 weeks prior your last day of work...
    greetings to everyone
