I know it varies depending on where you work and your position but I was wondering if you usually work full days, full time, like 8hrs a day 5 days a week or more part time hours? also if you usually have a set schedule or if it changes every week or so. and when the schedules come out. things like that....basicallywhat the hours and shifts are like in different positions. I'm mainly interested in a food & beverage position, preferably serving but honestly i'll do anything lol ;)
so whatever position you have feel free to leave some feedback about the hours and such if you don't mind...thank you :)

  2. I wrote a detailed list of the hours in another thread with almost the same title.

I'm Really bored at work. so I took the liberty of copying this from your old posts... here it is... I hope this is the one, and hope you don't mind

    "okay here goes...for F&B
When you first start and are on "podium" you most likely won't get as many hours as you would like. The earliest you will work is 11:00am (opening popcorn) closing popcorn is usually 9:30 (stocker) and 10:00 (cash) unless it's an extra magic hours night in which case you can be there as late as 1am but this is pretty rare. If you're in the restaurant seeting/greeting/stocking you're usually there to around 9:30ish at the LATEST. They ER (early release) you alot on podium though so is you aren't in the mood to be there 8 times out of 10 you can go early.
Shifts are usually scheduled between 6 and 8 hours. Almost NEVER overtime.

Once you're serving ALL bets are off. First you do food running with 4 days a week of 12:00pm - 9:30 shifts with a short break. Never let go early. Ever.
Then when you're a server you be either an AM (10:15-3:30ish opener or 11:15-3:30ish) or a PM (3:30-between 9:30 and 11L30 depending on when your tables leave) or you'll be a MID (aka a double anywhere from 10:15-11:15am to 8:30-11:30pm)

Once you're serving as well you can be on 6 day mandatory where EVERYONE works 6-days a week with no choice.

Overall, hours in canada are pretty good. I never had any problems with too few or too many (most of the time)"

thanks soooo much for taking the time to find and post that. i really did look for it ::) lol

just one quick question that's not really to do with hours but in F&B do you ever start out as a server or do you have to work your way up?
and does your schedule change every week or is it set?

    thanks sooo much again :)

I think you have to work your way up in all the countries, but it may vary on how long it takes... But you usually don't have to wait for more than 6 months to be in service...
