I got the interview in Beijing next week! I'm going to choose one position but I have no idea which one is better. I hope someone can give me some opinions. The position I list is limited within the CRP program, I know you may not know much about the China Pavilion, so vote according your own pavilion is fine, 谢谢!“thanks a lot†in English~ :)

Well in China there is a lot to choose from when it comes to positions. The pavilion has a 360 movie for attractions, a sort of take out place and a sit down restaurant for food and beverage and a few stores for merchandise. And then I think there is those Kidcot Fun Stop things but I'm not sure how you get a position in one of those. Maybe apart of attractions? But it would all depend on what you'd like to do for a whole year!

I would be in the Canada pavilion (if I'm accepted) and I'm hoping to be in attractions. I had four years of drama classes in high school (where I memorized a monologue that was about a page long) and I'm in college for journalism where I have to talk to and interact with a lot of people so I'm hoping that will up my chances. My second choice is merchandise and last would food and beverage. But either way, I'd just be happy to actually be accepted!

first i have to say that you really have a great memory for remembering those long lines! ;D the recruiting members tell us that there are only 7 positions for attractions in China Pavilion, so the competition could be very intense. i don't want to risk the opportunity so i choose merchandise as my first choice because i think f&b is a little exhausting, but there are also people telling me that merchandise can be boring, so i'm a little confused now and that's why i make the poll to get some opinions. by the way, when will you get your result? mine will come by the end of April. anyway wish we all have good luck~ ;)

Don't worry, I knew what you meant!! :) I have all my experience in Merchandise but as UK participants can only do Merch or F&B there's not too much choice - I would be quite happy to be either so long as I got to go!! I actually think F&B would be a fun challenge for me as I've never really done it before - I love learning new things!

I want to do F&B its the only thing I know how to do and I Love it =D its tiring work but its so good I love it to pieces. Meetig people asking about their holiday whilst you finish their order so they're not just stood in silence, seeing them smile because yu have an interest. Nope its brilliat =D Though I wouldnt mind merc either, I can imagine a little less cleaning at the end of the night, I wont miss the cleaning to be fair XD

I don't think merchandise would be that bad. I mean, you get to meet new people everyday. So, I think that in itself would be pretty exciting. I haven't even applied yet (since I want to head out in 2012). I can apply in July, so I'm pretty excited! Good luck on getting in!

Excuse me, sir! This is a Disney board! Such rude comments! lol

Your English is superb, I wasn't trying to criticise it! Just attempting to make the obvious joke any boy with the mentality of a 15 year old would :p

hi 俊? :) nice to see another Chinese here.

i had the same concern as yours: attraction is definitely my favorite role, yet with the least number of vacancies.... :-[
one of my friend did merch in ICP two years ago, she said the the job might be a bit boring or trivial sometimes(like stocking up), it's still great to meet bunches of people everyday. ;D
:-X f&b is tough, really, i heard this from 3 Chinese CRPs....(the comment may not be fair enough, as all of them are girls XD)

ah..one more thing, for merch / f&b, it's easier to give away shifts. this becomes crucial when you want to have an escape to Miami / Vegas.

i made attraction my 1st choice anyway, and merch as 2nd. :)

    funny pun dude:D

Does that mean I have the mentality of a 15 yr old boy too if I thought about that type of position (my choices, however, are different)? Well, I guess we did watch wrestling together once... Miss you, man!

ANYWAYS, back to the question, I worked in merch and LOVED it. I don't think I'm cut out for f&b and don't like public speaking so it was the obvious choice for me. My advice though, even if your first choice is one without many vacancies, still mark it as your first choice. Do your best in the interview and just try to seem genuinely interested in that one role (they will ask you what you want and why) and if they think you are Disney material, you got it! You have to also remember, they switch people in and out just about every month, so maybe you might not get there as early as you may hope (my brother and I were offered jobs the exact same day but our start dates were 2.5 months apart) but if they see you would be a great cast member then they will hold you a position!
    Good luck!!

I like being a server and it wasnt just for the money-it was less boring than being stood behind podium, or walking people to their tables, or being stuck in the chippy(which i loathed). You got to talk t people, you got to occasionally do something different and you could go for a walk and no one would miss you if you were clever about it

"im just going to check on my tables"

"ok...........hang on, you dont have any"

    "im going anyway"

that sounds fun~but before the interview, i was told that in China Pavilion, only those who has done really well can be promoted to be a server and the chance is not that big so i didn't choose f&b. anyway, i just hope myself get accepted, no more request~
