    Hiya

I wondered if anyone knows where i can buy a voltage convertor? cos over in England our electricals need like 24 (i think) volts to work but in the US the volts u get are lower

dont say manchester airport ive tried that before and couldn't find them so i spent my time in new york without straightners eek it wasn't good

aparently its not worth using straighteners from home just buy new ones when you get there...

although i don't know much on the subject :D

You can get them at boots, superdrug etc. (we have 240 volts in the UK ;) )

You can take your straighteners with you if you want (if your partial to your current pair like myself ;) ). Mine worked great out there with the voltage adapter. No probs. :)

Try asda...thats where I got my adaptor before I went on holiday to the states, and it was a lot cheaper than places like argos too!!

My straighteners aren't great so I dont know if they'll be any good over there, but I heard ghd are the way to go??

You wont really need a voltage changer. because the US voltage is lower than the UK you cant damage anything. If anything it may not run as well. For example a loptop set to UK voltage will just take a little longer to charge.

yip voltage adapters ain't hugely important just make sure you get an adapter for your plug to change it from three prongs to two and make sure its american not european!!

I have Mark Hill Morphy Richards straightners and they work exactly the same as they did at home... except the little red light doesn't flash when it's ready.

haha tell me bout it frizzy hair is no good - although if our straightners end up mangled we'll all be im the same boat!!

when i went to new york remmington straightners worked fine but i had a big shot hair dryer and when i switched it on the air that came out was just like a breeze from outside had entered the room needles to say my hair didn't dry. if worst comes to the worst could always buy some cheapy straightners (do wal mart sell them, they seem to sell everything else) then ditch them when i go home.

I am the only one here who doesnt use straightners? :D

I have a pair which i use rarely (like last night to try and dry my hair). My hair never seems to go frizzy and is almost straight anyway so i dont think i'll be bringing any.

yeh im the same, my hairs straight but i just got into the habit of using straightners, dunno why, but im not botherin to take them as my hair needs the break from them or i fear il go bald hehe

I don't use straightners, or a hair dryer for that matter. My hair does what it wants whatever I do to it, so I don't bother anymore.

Me neither - the only time i dry it proper is if i'm going out somewhere and i've just come out of the bath/shower.

There was a girl in my year at school who got told if she didnt stop using them then her hair would break off and she had to get her hair cut really short. That kinda scared me off them, my hairs really long and i'd hate to have to get it cut cause i'd damaged it in some way.

Nothing wrong with using them occasions though, i have much more fun trying to curl my hair though :)
