Hi! so I was hoping to start either working as a cultural rep. for Canada in January/early next year (2008). So I was wondering when I should apply? ??? I already applied to Cast-a-way, because I thought it would take forever – but Mykaila(Sp?) told me to apply later; closer to the date I wanted to go. I am in school (at U of A – Edmonton) from September to December so I’m I would rather have my interview in the summer....any advice?! Thanks!
Hey Miraclepie! Cast-a-away agencies only interviews in the east (Ontario, Quebec, Maritimes) in the spring, around April. Then they come west in the fall around November for interviews in the western provinces. I have heard from some people that it is better to apply a couple months before the interviews to insure they recieve your application and don't lose it. I know it would be better to have the interviews in the Summer but they only do the interviews (to the best of my knowledge) in the spring and in the fall. I am also applying for the 2008 Cultural Rep program and am very excited for the interviews in Vancouver in November. I'll probably send my resume in around June/July/August after they have finished interviews for the East. Hope this helps a bit!
yes, the intwerviews are only spring and fall, its just one day so i guess u can miss a day of school i did that lol and if u have ur interview in the spring u will be leaving around July - december the same year, for example if were going this interviews ur date will be some day between july - december 2007, and for fall ones the dates will be january - agoust next year, like if u had interviews fall 2007 u will be leaving aroun january - agoust 2008 , do i recomend u sent ur papers around june to get into fall interviews ;D good luck!
Thanks that makes so much more sense! I guess what really confused me was the fact that on the website they have May interviews in vancouver listed. - Is that just for the cruise line then?
yeah those ones are just for the cruise lines, thats what it's under on the site. They group the interviews together so they'll have the CR or ICP ones at one time, cruise ship ones are different.
Just want to warn you, you're kinda out of luck for your timeframe (close but not quite). The interviews that are about to happen are for dates in the Sept-Dec/Jan timeframe and the ones that happen on this side of the country are for more like Feb-June (Roughly because obviously I'm not sure when July/August are). But yes the best option for you would likely be to attend the Calgary interviews which will happen in about November, as such I'd contact Cast-A-Way beginning in around late August/September this year.
Thank you so much for the responses....they told me there were only interviews in Vancouver though!? I'll wait to hear from Eric, because I just emailed him, but I think he's away on vacation or something.
In November 2006 they have interviews for College Program and Internation Cultural Rep in Calgary and Vancouver. Just keep an eye on the website. They are usually quite clear on when they are interviewing, for what position.
Where are you from yukiphnx? For Canada we go through Cast-A-Way their website is http://www.cast-a-way.com
Yeah, I interviewed in Calgary in Nov 2006 and I was part of one of the first arrival groups from our interview group and arrived in March 2007.
I've literally just emailed my application to Yummy!! I'm so nervous, I know I've got months of waiting ahead of me but I just can't help getting excited! Should I be expecting a "thanks for you application" email any time soon?!
with yummy they say it can take up to 8 weeks for a reply. They get so many applications that they give a timeframe! If you don't hear back it's more likely that they've lost the application (I had that happen but it worked out better this way, lol) so you do expect something no matter what.
I'm hoping to work at WDW during the summer of 2008 however I applied for it a couple of weeks ago. Is that too soon? I also applied directly through the Yummy Jobs website. Is that the right way to do it or should I have just e-mailed them with my CV?
Its never too soon for anything, although yummy normally start sorting the summer programs over the summer around August-early November, i think it is. Just remind them you applied around this time, you may need to send your CV again, but i'm sure it will all be fine. Good luck A xx
