There have probably been many a post about this, but I thought I'd have a go and see if anyone can help!

I've been accepted onto the 12 month program (sept 11), have booked my flight and insurance and am just waiting for the visa appointment info (out of interest when does that come?)

I've heard that we have to send our flight details off (or they wouldn't know when we were arriving). But - who do we send the info to and when? Is it Disney or Yummy?

Sorry if there are other posts on this - couldn't see any.

Does anyone know how much it costs for the insurance for the J1 Academic Program? Because you have to get a full years insurance for that don't you?

Hi, i am new here. I was just really unsure about flights. i said that i wanted to book with Disney so i would perhaps be with other people that would be doing the programme etc (sept 11, 12 month). but i havnt heard anything and im not sure who i am supposed to be hearing from etc. so when i was looking up flights on my own- i could only find returns. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.BTW congrats to all that made it- this was my second attempt so am over the moon!

disney don't organise flights unti nearer the time. once you've had your visa appointment and your visa application has been approved you email disney to tell them this and to say you need them to do the flights for you. I think most people on the yearlong organise their own flights, normally through STA. A single to florida tends to cost between 300 and 400 pounds. there re plenty of one way flights up there. statravel.co.uk

theres a huge thread on here with people leaving on sept 11th. i know a few of the guys have managed to get onto the same virgin flight out of gatwick with statravel and the flight price if u uy a travel card is around £302 one way stright thru to mco which is the airport that disney pick u up from. ive heard if u let disney book ur flight that u dont always get a direct one which means u could end up travelling for longer and be completely knackered when u arrive.

Thanx 4 all the help guys!i thought if i booked with Disney i wud be able to meet people i wud be with on the flight etc but looking around it seems most have booked their own travel so i mite try that. Do u no if it was the 10:45 or 12:45 departure? Have been on the leaving sept 11 thread but i havnt heard anything from them yet. Thanx agen!

i've been looking at insurance, trying to work out what to get. i'm thinking of going with the yummy one and then getting annual travel insurance on top of that instead of single trip for the way out... just in case I do get to travel while out, and at the end of the year too.

the yummy one seems to work out at 100 dollars, and then annual travel cover is 30 odd pounds.

I'm going to turn to my father for advice though in the end! Reading up on what's involved in insurance packages just confuzzles me no end.
