What are peoples reactions when you tell them what you are doing?

Hi Guys,

I am moving to Orlando in April to work as a Holiday Rep.

Wondered what everyones reaction is when you tell them you are moving to Orlando/going to work at Disney World !

When I tell ppl that I am moving to Florida most are quite shocked that I could get a job out there and really excited for me !

the reaction i got was: REALLY? Oh i so envy you!! you are so lucky! I wish I was going too. I'm going to miss you SO much! and other stuff like that... but my mum and dad didn't beleve me when is aid I got the job.

I am Emily and I start in April too with the International Program (April 26th).

Well, to answer your question, everyone told me I was crazy !
They were shocked that I could live my country -France, Paris- and my family and friends.
But I told them that it would be the best opportunity in my life and I could not miss it.
Some of them still don't realize that I'm moving to Florida... 8)

Most people i tell dont really seem to react. Its strange my family are really pleased but friends dont seem to say much. Sometimes i think its a little bit of jealousy

emily i know the feeling, a lot of my friends dont think i'll go either! well i am...so make the most of my time here and deal with it! but then theres a big chunk that are shocked too. and then EVERYONE asks how i got the job....mmm are they tempted too!?!

I don't think my friends are tempted. They just think "what the hell are u gonna do in Florida ? You don't know anyone, and people don't speak French !" But I really don't care. That is what I have always wanted and it is the best thing in my life I have never had !

Here´s the reaction I got almost everytime I told somebody I was gonna work at Disney: ´Oh really, are you gonna be Mickey Mouse?` How funny!!!!!!!! It was okay in the beginning...but it´s getting kinda old people!!!!!!!!

haha stef, yeah i got the oooh are u going 2 b a character thing as well!

well my parents - my dad is really happy and says hes proud of me :-[ and my mum cant wait 2get rid of me lol, my sis just gives me a shopping list for what she wants me 2 buy for her. then my aunties/uncles/cousins r all really happy, very suportive. my friends very very mixed reaction! anyone who knows me remotely knows how much i wanted to go, best friends really happy but keep sayin they gona miss me and r gona come bunk down at mine *they know they cant but in one ear out the other!*, then others, mainly guys r like well its great, but don't go! especially 2 certain males who've tried everythin 2 stop me from going.

and my gran doesn't want me 2 go cos she'd miss me 2, bless. its gona b very hard 2 leave, but i'm definately goin

I get that and Im not even gonna be working at Disney World ! The friends I work with in the industry are quite really pleased for me but other people I know in the industry are a bit jealous as its a big jump in terms of my job.

What's this about your friends not being able to visit you? Is it just that they can not stay in Commons with you?

yeah sorry liz thats what i meant, every person automatically thinks they can come and live in my room/apartment for as long as they want when they come visit, my friends just don't listen!

When I told people I would be going to Florida they all said how brave I was to leave my country, family, friends all for a year to move to another continent where I don't know a single soul. But I was so excited about going that I didn't even think about that. My friends were happy and excited for me for the most part but there were a few who were kinda disappointed at me for leaving them behind for a year ( how stupid is that ).
That comment "Ohhh did you work as Mickey Mouse??" is sooo LAME! I cannot hear it anymore. So many people said that when I told them I was working for Disney. And then they start this hysterical stupid laugh cause they think they just landed a big fat joke. Hearing it over and over again for 4 years can make you sooo mad LOL

ive had it a lot too! and also 'oooh are you gonna be snow white?' coz my hairs really dark??

That's a good excuse! Most people don't believe me when I say I worked in Disney World- and I'm from the US.

"How did you get here?"
"Where's the nearest restroom?"
"Where can we see the characters?"

I love the most common question in the Magic Kingdom...
"What time is the 3 o'clock parade"

 

oh god why cant there just be someone there when you enter the park telling everyone the 3pm parade starts at 4!

would make life easier!

My absolute LEAST favorite question was "Why doesn't Mickey Mouse talk?"

If I got paid a bonus of a dollar every time I heard that question...I'd prolly have enough for a plane ticket to go down to Disney right now.
