Ok, it's arrived again! The rejection letter was on my doorstep when I got home! Another rejection with no explaination (even the same letter, I could proberly find the old one and the only thing to change will be the date!!) and I still haven't even got as far a phone interview! I did everything they asked of me, I waited and waited after the last rejection, but still NO! AHHHHHHH Kerry Sorry if this is ranty (is that a word?) but I'm a little angry at the moment!
Oh no kerry, i dont know what i can say 2 make u feel better, but that doesn't seem right or fair, i really feel 4 u hun *hug* Sara xx
Oh no that's awful for you You poor thing x You say you've not even got to phone interview stage, maybe its how your CV has been laid out, or the things included in it? I'm only chucking guesses around, to be honest have no idea! Have you got experience in retail and/or f&b positions? Perhaps it may be worth rejigging your CV a little and trying again. Why don't you email Jason or Mindi at yummy and ask them the reason? They're really nice and i'm sure wouldn't mind at all giving you a little feedback to help you for next time you apply x x :-\ So sorry to hear about that Tinks, you're posts are always so glowing and positive for everyone i was sure you'd get in x
Thanks you guys. On the letters they send it says that they can't give indivdual feedback and I e-mail and asked last time I got rejected and they said that they wouldn't be able to comment. I think I'll email again. I worked in a shop (very much like the ones in Epcot) for almost 2 years as my 'afterschool job'. I hope thats not it!
I doubt that would be it kerry, but yeah i think u shud email jason and ask. I work at alton towers, have done for 2 years and thats not been used against me, i do think u need 2 ask y. xxx
I'm so sorry to hear that Tinks :'(. Maybe it is just your cv. It might need a bit of re-doing to boost it a bit. I really am sorry, but don't stop trying Dan x
Oh no Kerry...I'm so sad.....*BIG HUGS*!!! I don't know what to say to make you feel better really.....don't give up tho....keep trying if it's something you really want! ellen xxx
Ok thats it, I've sent them an email, I really hope it doesn't sound to Mickey!ty! I'm just not in the best of moods at the moment! (Although hearing of you guys getting good news is helping!! ;D ) Kerry
Hi Kerry I  don't post a lot but I did the international program from Sept 2002 to Sept 2003. I am from Canada but since leaving Disney I now live in England. I have a story that might cheer you up. When you go to Disney you arrive in arrival groups. In mine was a girl named Jenn who was awesome. She became one of my cloest friends and well you would never believe she had applied for the program a number of time ( either 3 or 4 I forget now) She had been rejected like yourself  with no response. In the end she ended up being accepted and was one of the best cast members I have ever met. The point is well if you want something bad enough it will happen and I truly believe things happen when they are suppose to happen. Jenn had an amazing year with the right people. If she had gone before then it  could be a very different experience. So I think writing to yummys or phoning and seeing how you could improve your chances will defintely help. I don't always think the application form and telephone interview tell the whole story about  a person. Also if you message me your e-mail I will see if Jenn had done anything differently after being rejected that helped her. Good luck Sam (Ex CGDT President)
Excellent idea, also maybe next time you apply try writing a really good covering letter, something that allows part of your personality to shine through too, that might strengthen your application a little Basically as Sam said, if it's not the right time for you then it won't happen, but keep applying as when the right time does come about you'll be accepted and off to Disney before you know it. Fate is obviously playing a hand in your favour by you being rejected so maybe there's more to look forward to x Keep on trying Tinks, i'm sure you'll make it through. If you want any pointers on anything i.e. cover letter, CV etc. I can't guarentee i'd be able to help buti'll try for you Just send me an email if you want x
Karry - Im so gutted for you - I really thought youd get in! Like everyone said, dont give up, if you keep applying theyll see how determined you are and youll get in when the time is right! Much love and hugs to you, Michelle xx
Hey Kerry, Well mine story is actually happening right now. I'lve applied to the wdwip three times and I might need to re-apply again. But you know what? I'm not giving up and here's why. First time I applied was last year October for the Vancouver interivew and I never got the call at all for it. Then I did the pre-interview in Toronto last February but I didn't make it into the finals. I applied again for the Vancouver interview and got into the finals this time around. As of right now, I'm on the waiting list and I may of may not get in but that's better then a nothing eventhough I might have to re-apply again. So maybe I might get in the next time. So what I'm trying to say is, don't give up. Keep in contact with them and keep on tryiing. Your get there sooner or later. Just hang in there. Gary
Hey thanks everyone, Your messages of support really do mean so much to me! Although family want what I want they don't really understand where I'm coming from, thats where all of you come in!! ;D I've had a reply from yummy, and its actually quite helpful, they've basicly said that I wasn't considered and wont be considered unless I am currently working and/or studying in the hospitality/tourism industry. They have suggested that I get a pub/restaurant or shop job, which basicly means I will have no time to sleep, as I work full time on a Modern Apprenticeship as well as going to college in the evenings, and a fairly large chunk of my weekends are taken up by college work! I'll have to take a look and see whats around in my area. Thanks again for all the messages! Kerry
Hmm, that sound a bit confusing information they gave you. Or at least it is to me. lol. Although I'm from Canada, I've always been told from Castaway that anyone get apply and get a job. Like I have no travel & tourism experience at all and I've been considered into the interviews. Do they really hire differently for each countries? I always thought they look at person's personality more then what their work/education history. Shop Job isn't such a bad thing though, there are soo many around. You might want to even try the Disney store too. Gary
I'd love so much to work in the Disney store but the closest to me it a 40 min drive away (on a good traffic day!) maybe I should move?! Although my dad would never forgive me if I moved to Southampton!! (closest football rivals!) I definatley think it will have to be a shop, at the weekends.
awww Tinks im sooo sorry its hard to say the right thing but you always seem so sweet and so well disney, it doesnt seeem fair. I loved Sams story and hopefully when the time is right you will get through too. Good Luck
Hi Tinks just read you r post on yummys feedback... My brother is doing an apprenticeship and college and work takes up all his time... so i totally sympathise... i have an idea of a job you could do, im a hostess at Edinburgh International Conference Centre and i work about 20 hrs a week there, however cos its flexible work depending on whats on there are some people there who only work maybe one shift a month or even less. I've heard theatre stewards are the same - theres shifts when theres shows on but you take work as and when you want because you are casually employed. This could work with your apprenticeship as it wouldn't have to be every week... and would give you experience, yummy would probably count... Good Luck!!!
