    Hi,
just wondering if anybody knows about how the bug situation is in Florida? :)

I can handle beetles and stuff, but spiders? not my favourite at all..

I read somewhere that you get bitten by small spiders all the time, is this true? And are there many bugs/spiders inside the apartments?? I also read that you must not let clothes lie on the floor, cause cockroaches will crawl into it. But what about beds, does the cockroaches crawl inside your linens?

As long as you don't leave food out and keep your doors closed at all times, you will be fine.
They are super intense about this at housing and if you see a bug in your apartment you are supposed to
    call pest control asap.

As for spiders, yes they are around, but not in your apartment and are completely avoidable.
There are tons of bugs around but they don't really bother anyone. Completely harmless.
Also, there are tons of geckos. They are adorable and I see way more of them than I do spiders.
You have nothing to worry about I promise.

I didnt really see any spiders out there - far worse for some people were the mozzies esp if you were working in f&b on the lower deck next to the lake
in the night you hear the crickets chirping and around may and sept time you get the love bugs which look revolting like 2 earwigs joined at the bum but are completely harmless

other than that you see a tonne of geccos, and there are racoons and ferral cats around the accomodation

cockroaches are there but the housing is pretty good - you only get them if you are stupid and leave out food and rubbish and dont take it out

oh i forgot the frogs/toads that appeared as well for a bt but mostly its all outside not where your staying

i only ever saw maybe 3 cockroaches in my actual apartment, dunno how they got in there but i just used to zap them with bug spray! other than that i only ever saw the love bugs (but they just kinda float around in the air, they dont sting yoou or anything, and i never ever saw any spiders....... strange but true!

theres millions of those little lizards (geckos?) but they just sit in the sun and then scurry away when they feel or see any movement,so they wont bother you at all.

you will sometimes see the raccoons jumping in and out of the large waste disposal units at the housing complexes but they run away from people really

i never really got bitten/stung by any bugs when i was there at all, that i can remember

    Dont worry about it!

Yeah there are definitely loads of geckos, they're so cute! But I've never been bitten by any bugs while I've been out there.
I think the scariest "bug" I saw in Florida was an alligator crossing the road on my way to the space centre... Strange times.

There is alot of wildlife all over Orlando. I've been there sooooo many times and I've seen wild Lizards (they're everywhere, but they're mostly harmless and run away from people), snakes (mainly on golf courses) and Alligators (they're mostly spotted in the hottest part of summer and close to the lakes).

Don't think I'm trying to put you off going lol. Encounters with snakes and Alligators are very very rare so you don't have to be worried about encountering dangerous animals.

actually encounters with snakes isnt that rare - yuo see them several times in Epcot but the animal people come out and collect them - they arent dangeruos ones they are just there - you see them pretty often by the water parks too

the bugs really were never a problem when i was down. There are geckos everywhere, some people had frogs a few times, but as long as you don't leave dishes everywhere then you'll be fine. We did have some really tiny ants in our kitchen at one point, but that was because my roommate left food covered dishes out for a while. you'll be fine!

As several has mentioned: never leave food outside. I have been to Florida several times, and those damn ants are som real buggers :)P). There are of course other insects as mosquitos, tons of geckos, but they are cute, can't seem to see alot of spiders though, but when i see one, they are quite large :-\ at least in comparison where I am from.
