I was just wondering to anyone who's already over there if we're allowed to stick stuff on the walls in the housing complexes? I don't wanna take a load of photos or something if I can't put them up, cuz I know some places are a bit funny thinking you'll rip all their paint off at the end lol.
Whatever the answer to this question, I suggest a digital photo frame. You can store LOADS of photos, on something very tiny, and it'll take up a lot less space in your suitcase. Also means you can add any photos you take while you're out there! Digital frames aren't that expensive any more, unless you go for top of the range ones. But even the lower ones do the job very nicely.
As I recall, you're allowed to put up some posters and what not if you use that blue sticky-tack stuff. You might be allowed a cork board as well to actually pin stuff into, but that could only lean against the wall. Basically, they don't want any holes in their walls at all. I just don't remember if there's a certain limit to what you can put up in terms of numbers, or really if their stand on putting pictures on walls have changed at all. Though the idea for a digital picture frame is an awesome one! Or, if you're taking a computer, setting your screen saver to just rotate pictures of fam/friends from home is also a decent alternative
Yeah, I was thinking the computer background idea if I can't. My mate got me a poster as a bit of a leaving present and was like 'You HAVE to take it with you'...I'm like 'Mate, I don't even know if I'm allowed to stick it up' lol.
I think as long as you use the blue sticky tack, you should be fine. On my ICP program a few years back, I had a couple posters and a flag on my wall - never heard a peep about them during apartment inspections!
I can't remember if they tell you when your apartment will be inspected... might defeat the purpose of the inspection lol
When I lived in the commons we got told to put up our stuff with the sticky tack...so I tried it and that lasted for about 5 minutes in the florida humidity, but about a month in I just sucked it up and pinned stuff to the walls...my walls were covered and I never heard a peep from the housing folks...We passed all of our inspections with flying colours with crap pinned up all over the place!!
