I've been volunteering at one of the BCSPCA shelters by my house for a year now and will continue to do so until I leave, so I was just wondering if anyone has ever volunteered at the Orlando Humane Society/SPCA?? It's about a 20 minute drive down the freeway, so it's not exactly that close, but I was just curious. I would really just like to keep volunteering with some sort of animal shelter while I'm away
I'd like to find out a bit more about this as well. Are there any VoluntEars programs working with animals?
Have you guys tried emailing the people from the official international programs website? Maybe they could give you a more accurate information about it?? I do believe there are voluteering programs with children but I don't know about animals.
2 regular volunteering ops one with cipo is wher eu visit local schools and clubs and tell them about your country - most of kdis wont ever get to go travelling all voer the world so its closest they get the 2nd is working at the give kids the world village - you can go on 1 of 2 days/nights where you help with the kids also at various times of the year there are fun runs / walks for vasrious charities also in fnb they sloemtimes asked for people to go give out food at the homeless shelter - thats only thing i didnt get round to doing the others were all great i highly recommend doing the cipo one its a good way of meeting new people from other countries and kathy who runs it is lovely - u gte to go for food and u get a thank u card form head of epcot operations after as well the give kdis the world one is also fab it can be difficult to get scheduled time off for it tho and the paces for it fill fast cos everyone wants to do it dunno about animal charities i know in the commons there are lots of wild cats and racoons - i used to leave like chicken/meet stuff behind the bins for them - saved them going in the ins for it you ont see a lot fo animals like domestic pets around
Not sure what other locations do but in Canad F&B our manager was a dog lover and she arranged us to help out with causes with local animal groups. Mostly just dog walking fundraisers, but every bit helps. We also had a permy who was big into volunteering locally and he was always trying to get us to help out!
