ok, this is going to sound like a really stupid question!! but my visa appointment is monday and we need to get a photo done. will one from a passport photo booth do?? or does it have to be done properly??

done properly, i got mine done in belfast in Snappy Shots r something, and u can get it done in Jessops camera store 2 in belfast. My friend fiona tried the chemists and photo booth but they weren't the right measurement. and u just need 1 photo. I got 2 when i got mine done.

Yeah- its awkward measurements so you can't use a normal passport size one.

Actually, when I had my visa appointment done, i only took 2 normal passport size photos, i did in a photo booth the day before and to be honest that was fine! Its not as scary as people make out to be, just alot of waiting around to see someone for 5 minutes, there not going to refuse you a visa if your measurment on your photo is out by a few mm. As long as you've got all you paperwork sorted, you'll be fine.

just went for my visa appt yesterday.

if ur going to the london one take an umbrella - i queued outside for about 2 hours before getting into the embassy. u can take elctronics with u they give u a clear plastic baggy to stick them in when u get to the security point they take them off u and give u a tag.

when u get into the embassy u get given a number and have to wait for it to be called. u go up give ya papers and get ya prints scanned. then u go sit back down and wait for ur number to get called again. you then have a 2 minute interview where they just ask u ur intentions in the us and when u come home. then u get to go queue again for ya sms thingy which is the service by which they send ur passport back to u.

my appt time was 1pm and i didnt get out until about 530 so its a long drag

also u might want to take something to eat and drink with u as u could be there a while - take a book or something

people can queue up with u as far as the security check point but cant go past there

theres toilets in the embassy but none when ur queuing up outside.

a chemist down the road does the proper visa photos and thers a photo booth inside that does passport ones - both are fine tho - i had the visa ones another girl just had passport ones. if u get passport ones make sure u follow the general guidelines on them ie on a white background and with the face cleared of hair etc

if ur going to london get the latest appt u can. people who had later appts than me were out at the same time!!!!

    gosh, thats harsh!

dublin is great, u can go in and out of the embassy all the time to go to the shops, the chemist, nything! lol

plus, we just had to wait 5mins outside in Ballsbridge
    went in one by one

security were lovely, really nice. u could talk away to em lol

then went in handed in papers
    sat down
    waited for name call
went up to cashier again, prints scanned, then passport given bak (well, mine wuda bn only they want original visa petition - which is on its way from mexico to america now then disney to dublin, then i'l get my passport posted out to me - could take a few weeks lol) so yeh, easy peasy, no interview wat so ever! :D

    loved it hahaahahaha

becs ther was nothin available in blfast, no cancellations, then their closin in august. so got one in london, but too expensive and too much hassle to travel over. so got it in dublin. :D and now i find out there were dates set aside for us in belfast! no one told us, plus i said where i was going to and wat to do wen bookin the visa appointment! jeese!

and the visa petition is wat disney sent u for ur visa, has names and the embassy u go to on it. but i only had a copy f it, they wouldn't accept it, so got yummy to check it out, they rang disney, and disney are gettin the original from mexico, sending it to disney then to dublin, then i'll gt my passport and visa once thats done! so yummy said it'll take a while tho, but they're keepin me updated
