Heya, I just booked my Visa appointment for May 23rd at 1pm, does anyone else have this day?? I also bought my medical insurance. Is anyone getting travel insurance? does anyone know where a god place to get it from is? Does anyone know where to find cheap trains to London, i'm travelling from Lincoln and so far theyr all £50+. Also i read through my acceptance letter and realised that although i am working in food and beverage i only have a host position, i didn't really want this as i have worked as a waitress for years so have the experience for a tipped position, is there any way to swap whilst I'm over there??? I am so excited now as everything is starting to come together!!! only 46days, still havn't found anyone else from the UK flying June 12th though which is strange!!! Whats this initiation thing i heard about when you get there? Should i be worried??? Lol xxx ???
Are you on the CRP? If you are and you are in F&B, then you will most likely start out working in the chip shop and seater/greeter/podium in the rose and crown and then you'll become a waitress in a tipped position after this. From what i'v heard it could take a month or 10 months to become a waitress it just depends when are where they need you. Im probably not the best person to answer that question, but i'm sure some one else knows better. Also try looking for your train fair on www.thetrainline.com. Try looking at 2 singles rather than one return ticket as it might be a bit cheaper. Also if you spend at least £20 on thetrainline.com then enter this code LTTL5D at the checkout to get £5 off. If two singles are over £20 each then buy them seperatly and use the codes twice.
i just looked on the train line site and prices are coming up as £34 return with a young persons rail card, £52 without. But if you dont have a rail card then you can get singles for most of the way for £17 each way plus the £5 discount.
yeah. mine says f&b host. I assume because it's the starting position you get until you can get into tipped service. because you need to learn the menu and seat plan etc they won't put you in tipped until you take some sort of test (?). pretty sure that's what was said at the interviews.
yesh, you all get into tipped positions after a while. i've heard of people becoming servers after a couple of months, and i've heard of guys who never made it into service, but those were exceptions they sucked at their job and the managers coulodn't stand them,... soo just do an ok job, and you'll eventually get in they usually try to make you aa server within 6/7 months
