Visa appointments!!!

Hey just a quick question does anyone know where we can leave our bags and phones etc while going to the embassy?? im going to work afterwards and need a locker or something!! any help appreicited!!

I think, and someone correct me on this, that you hand them in before you go inside the embassy for security purposes. How much they will take I'm not sure, somewhere in London will have lockers though, have a google!

 

ive had a search for lockers but cant seem to find anything, apparantely there are some at marble arch but i want some reassurance!! lol

and it costs 131 dollars for the appointment and then 30 dollars on the day... its a costly process, but im sure it will be worth it!

 

Woah the costs just keep adding up don't they, haven't even looked at insurance yet!?

 

You can take a bag in with you, it just goes through the xray machine thing at security but you cannot take a phone in with you. They tell you to go to a chemists around the corner to a man who holds all the phones for the people at the embassy but it's a rip off because he charges £10 to look after your phone!! You should probably leave the stuff in a locker at a train station or something it'll prob be cheaper!

 

no nor have i as i want to secure the visa and everything first! until then im sitting tight! lol

 

thanks briar rose, does that mean marble arch has the facility to store your bags?? do you know the places we can store them?

 

I dont know about Marble Arch, i havent been there. Can you not leave your things in a left luggage at the train station or a hotel? I left mine with my dad because he was there waiting for me.

 

I know you can leave things at Victoria coach station and the train station but they usually charge about the same as the chemist. It cost me £25 to leave a rucksack in Victoria train station for about 10 hours, but it was a flat rate rather than hourly, so I don't know how much it would cost for a couple of hours.

Luckily my sister is working at Earls court so i'm going to dump my things with her and pick them up after we've finished.

 

Would it not just be easier to leave these things in the car???

 

Unless you were catching a train of course...I feel silly!

 

Knowing my luck I would probably just accidently leave it on the train.

 

Hahah.... so you should! Yeah, having a car in London is an expensive rarity!

 

Ah, we may be uncultured oiks in the north but we can afford to run a car (just these days!)

 

how long before your leaving date does this whole process start?

 

The visa process starts about 4-5 weeks before you fly out. You get a reciept number from Yummy so that you can book your appointment, which is usually about 3 weeks before you leave, then I had my appointment on the 4th, got my visa by the 5th and fly out on the 23rd. I know we were quite lucky though because we got quite a bit of time, others only got two weeks to get their appointments and their visas.

 

This is what is making me hold off on booking my flight. I start on Feb 2nd but wanna go out with Scotty a week before & all I can imagine is not having the visa in time & having to book another flight. I wish I could just grow a set & take my chances!

 

well i was supposed to leave on the 9th but the visa people told me i gotta wait another four weeks so book a flex flight! im not leaving until the 23rd now i dont think!! and ive packed up!!
