Hey, I just made my embassy appointment today and booked my flights (I'm quite lucky. My dad is going with me even though we have to leave uber early so at least I have travel to the airport and back home!)

How much was the taxi ride and how long did it take to get to the embassy?

I'm a worrier. Want to make sure I got all the timings right :)

Oh and what did people do about visa pictures? Did you get the whole 2/2 thing done or where they happy enough with a regular passport picture? I had to get a new set already for my new passport, I hate having to go back and get MORE now!

The embassy is about 40 minutes drive from the airport. Are you flying into Belfast Intl or Belfast City?

I would get the bus at least part of the way and it will be much cheaper. And yes, I would make sure you have got the proper US Visa sized pics. They are really fussy about that.

I flew into Belfast Intl and it only took me about half an hour to get from there to the embassy (and that was with a random taxi driver who didnt have a scooby where he was going and he was going by what the GPS thing was telling him!!) cost me £20. Word of warning,if you pre-book a taxi (which i would advise, unless you plan on getting a airport bus) make sure you find out where it will be waiting to pick you up,i pre-booked one and it didnt show up,so i had to just jump into a random one that was dropping someone of!!! Apparently your not meant to do that there....
And yeah, make sure you get the proper picture taken,i dont think youl get away with using a passport picture to be honest.

I have a link to a taxi driver there (bro-in-law's uncle!) so we're hoping to get set up with him. And yeah, it's the int'l airport so 30-40 minutes is fine. I arrive about 2 hours before my appointment anyway!

We can maybe go somewhere for breakfast, lol.

My dad has decided to join me for a day out since he was going to have to take me to the airport anyway!

Linsey, last year when I went I was mega early and they just seen my early. I was out before the time for my appointment! It was great cause it meant I got more time in Belfast. I went with my dad too! If you haven't been to Belfast before you should def do one of the open top bus trips, it was really interesting

Definitely get the proper visa pictures. When i was at the Belfast Consulate they sent people away to get the proper pictures if they didn't have the right ones. Then they had to just wait in line again til it came to their turn. That was before the consulate moved to stranmillis, so the pharmacy where you could get the pics was just around the corner. With it being in Stranmillis there is nowhere close to get the pics, and you'd have to get a bus back into town.
