Hey everyone, just a quick question. Are we allowed altering our uniforms? For example, can we shorten the sleeves, or roll them up, or anything, or is there a specific look that each uniform has to have. I get hot wearing t-shirts up here, so i am pretty sure I will be sweating off the pounds down there. I'm excited to see the unifrom we get to wear. Also, are there guidlelines for shoes? Or is all of this covered in the package? I haven't received mine yet, so I was just wondering... Chase
The uniform is really stricked, lol but at least we all have to wear them, well it should keep us amused. Helen xx
Righty! As far as I know... To alter the uniform: no. There's guidelines on everything (including when and where you can wear extra pins, nametag, etc. Shorten the sleeves: No, I'd imagine costuming may kill you Roll up the sleeves: Yes. When temps reach 90 degrees, a code 90 (if I recall) is issued meaning "Loosen clothing". I'd guess that this includes rolling up sleeves, however, to the best of my knowledge, the majority of costumes down there are short sleeved anyway so there's no problem with rolling up sleeves. I think the main thing that we can influence is buttons and unbuttoning the top ones, I think... Specific look: Yup. There's a very, very, VERY definate look for the uniform. Disney is miiiiighty picky about how CMs look when on stage. I think if you have 3 (possibly more) violations of the codes, you can be terminated... Shoes: Again, very definate guidelines, black is king, I think... But you bring money with you and purchase them in Orlando, so I dont imagine that'll be a major problem to get. But I imagine this is aaaaaaaaaaall covered in depth in the package. In the mean time, http://www.wdwcollegeprogram.com/sap/its/mimes/zh_wdwcp/disneylook/cast_all.html has guidelines for all CMs (With option for male and female specific guidelines to be found on the left of the screen). Hope that helps! KC
Hey, in the uk pavillion we can roll up our sleeves. actually damaging the uniform to make it cooler i can imagine would get u in hot water!
Im gonna look dreadful in my uniform - pale white blonde girls dont really suit stripy yellow and white skirts
Hey Chase: The Cnd outdoor uniforms have sleeves that we are allowed to roll up. The restaurant uniform (which I got to wear for the first time today!) pretty much covers everything from the neck down. Personally, I feel like a nun in it. The top button HAS to remain done up - even if you are outside for emergency popcorn duty! The sleeves MUST stay down and buttoned. F&B guys wear black shoes, but they have to be slip-resistant otherwise you're looking at a broken bone at some point during your year If you feel your uniform needs to be altered because you can't find out that fits talk to the folk at costuming. If you want to alter it because you feel like a fool dressed in it you can't See ya soon! ~ Jen
Well, I am a lumberjack in real life. So, the costume is probably similar to something iwould wear on a daily basis, so I'm not worried about looking like a fool. However, I'm a little on the bulky side, and its not exactly warm in my area, as we are having a snow blizzard as we speak! So, when I get down there, I imagine I'm gonna get a little warm, and I was just wondering the different ways i can attempt to keep cool...
Hope you get put inside and suck up the air conditioning! Lol you're lucky really because you get shorts and short sleeves - not one of us who is pretty much covered head to toe :
