I know there are other threads on insurance, but I wanted a more up to date one.

I'm off to Disney in 2 weeks (ish) and I'm so confused...I looked at a lot of the companies suggested by people on other threads (Insure & Go, 24 Seven thingy, Direct Travel etc) and left it with my parentals investigating.

My dad now reckons that backpackers insurance as people suggested from these sites wont cover me as I wont actually be classed as a traveller etc etc, so I'm back to not having a clue.

    Can anyone help please?

Also is it better to get the whole year or just the 4 months? Does anyone know what the Disney insurance actually covers?

Forget about Insure&Go. Their site may look good and it's painless to buy, but they are the biggest pain in the ar*e should you ever need to claim from them.
Backpackers insurance should be fine, most don't specify that you can only be in one place for x amount of days, just that you can be out of the UK for x days.

Check out some of the comparison sites like gocompare.com or moneysupermarket.com for a decent amount of suggestions.

Insurance was the hardest thing to arrange especially as when I rang Yummy Jobs for help they said they could not advise people on which insurance to purchase. The Seven Corners insurance is overly expensive, as is Disney's insurance from what i've heard. I went with STA's backpacker insurance which I booked by phoning STA in Oxford as they are recommended by Yummy Jobs. It was slightly more than the insurance offered by online companies, such as insure and go etc but you do received a 10% discount if you mention your a Yummy Jobs candidate. Also, there are STAs in the USA so if there were any problems at least they are close by. There are three levels of coverage also for different prices (all the information is on their website). I went for the Standard (the middle one in terms of price and coverage) and it was £349 for 12 month and then 10% was deducted. I also opted to pay an extra £6 and on any claim I don't have to pay an excess fee. The insurance covers you for both work and travel which is great as some of your belongings and flights will be covered unlike other insurances. Also, you can call them to extend your policy by one month is you wish to travel after the program which would only be an extra £20 or £30 I've heard.
I knew there would be a catch with insure and go, their prices looked too good to be true...
Failing this, also look at Endsleigh. I had study abroad insurance with them and they would good but their prices are similar to STAs insurance and I believe you had to pay an excess.
    Hope this helps :)

The STA Travel insurance is underwritten by Endsleigh which is why the prices may seem so similar.
I've had this insurance before and it's OK, not amazing and not the cheapest. Just make sure you keep receipts for anything you have of any value, flight tickets / ticket stubs just in case you have to claim. Insurance companies will look for the smallest reason to escape paying out.
NB: Most travel insurance will no longer pay out for lost or stolen sunglasses.
