Hello everyone! I'm planning to apply to the program in June - I got through to the International College Program f2f last year, but had to turn it down due to a clash with university :(

However, I'm so excited at the chance to work for Disney under this program, and have a quick question for previous applicants.. one of the things I think got me so far on the ICP was my theatre and perfomance experience, but seeing as the CRP is more based on hospitality, I wonder if my chances are as good - what would you say are the most important qualities that the company is looking for on this program?

    Thank you so much :)

    hi there :)
    welcome to the boards :D

im sorry to hear that you had to turn down the ICP :( that sucks!

i will be applying again for the August apps (this will be my third time applying) and as you said, your history of theatre and performance may have been great for ICP (as you get the chance to be a character, on rides that require acting ect like ToT, or Jungle Cruise) but as for the CRP i think they do look more for the hospitality side of things, most importantly Food & Beverage side as there are more positions availible there.

as i say i have not been on the program (yet. nor have i even managed to get a phone interview!) my history of work is basiclly merchandise. i work as a mechanic at the moment but also do sales on the on site store. and the told me to trying gaining more experence in the food indusrty.but fingers crossed for us all anyway :)
    hope this has helped

Yeah, as Gary said, you may need some experience- but the most I had was working in a shop on saturdays during 6th form and working in a library 2 hours a week at uni. And I've made it to the waitlist by just those (but Gary's right in saying there are more f and b positions...so more chance of a position; although they've only given start dates up to sept at the mo. so there's loads of people that are hopeful of oct-feb positions)

Other experiences, like performing, may be useful things to talk about though- shows you can do other things outside of work. And also anything else you may have done at uni- sports, societies etc.

From my interview experience, they are looking for people who want the disney experience, the "cultural" experience, and why you think you should get to go, so why you would benefit.

Hope this helps a little...good luck for the next time round Gary- I'm sure you'll get there eventually! x x

I do have a few years experience in both shop and restaurant (a pub, so points there I hope!) environments, so hopefully this will help me along! Thanks for the help guys :)

KatLou26, where are the start dates posted? I couldn't find them on the Official Website.. Thanks!

We only really know start dates because we've been following previous application periods. The Set of applications that start August 2010 (open from June) will have departure/start dates fromJan/Feb - July/August 2011 ish.

Yep this is true! In the feb interviews, they were initially for starts aug-dec (what they told us at interview). However, thus far they've only given out places until september (some have had earlier- like may/june). Those of use on the waitlist may be in with a chance of getting positions now between oct and feb, once disney finalise all the details.

The june apps will be looking at places about jan-july/aug. Basically they send people out on about 2 dates every month, and fill up depending on how busy the season gets.

    Hope this helps a little... x x x

I think experience does help, but it's not everything. I've got 6 years F&B experience and got waitlisted (over in FL now though :-D), another girl that arrived with me is in F&B over here but had no experience whatsoever...she had plenty retail experience, but no hospitality. And another girl only had a few months F&B experience and she got accepted straight off.

I think they look for a mixture of things. Mind you, over here, you do meet plenty of people that you think 'how the hell did you get on this programme?' lol.
