I'm graduating on thanksgiving weekend this year...what are the chances that disneys going to let me fly home for that?? I know it all depends on everything, but are they pretty good with that kind of thing?

    :)

I'm positive if you just let them know in advance it will not be a problem.

Ya, there's a guy that I talk to that's down there right now and he got a week off for when his parents came to visit so I'm sure you'll be able to make it home!...Even if it is for only a couple days!! :)

Yeah, you're heading out in August so you'll have plenty time to give your manager advance notice, I hope they'd be able to make sure you get those days off. Is this Canadian or American Thanksgiving? If it's Canadian, that's probably not a busy time for Disney so I'd hope it wouldn't be a problem.

My high school had our commencement in October too, so I know what you mean. It was nice seeing everyone, though. Fortunately my Convocation from University is in June and I head to Florida in July.

wow, you must be so stoked. Everythings going to happen really fast for you. I was going to go out to Florida in June, but then i would've had to finish school early and miss prom so i was able to get a later date. I'm working until i go out in august...so i still have lots of time. Concentrating on school is soooo hard though!!!

If you know the exact dates you want off then as soon as you have access to the hub, you should request the dates off. the earlier you do it the better chance you will have in getting the time off!

Oh concentrating on school is almost impossible. I have my last exam tomorrow at 9am and it's *so* difficult to force myself to study! I can't imagine still having a couple of months of school left!

yea its actually so crazy. I still need really good marks to keep my scholarships and coop for university when i get back (literallyl ill get back next year, have two weeks and then go to school) ...so its tough. All my friends are talking about univesrity next year, so i kinda feel left out..starting a year after them. This experience will be worth it though...hopefully.

you get a week off after you've been employed for 9 months.

On that note.. i also need time off. but it is in december.. the beginning. Also.. you have to OK it with someone because of the VISA thing.. someone has to sign off on it,,.. you cant just head out for a couple days and leave the country.

ALSO.. im sure its something that everyone needs.. a week off to visit home, or some related thing, so im sure they get that request often, and i doubt that it will be hard to do for canadian thanksgiving.

Yes you have to fill out a form so that Disney has it on record when you are out of the country. What HSM said is good advice - as soon as you can - go on the Hub and request your days off. Actually the same goes for getting time off the beginning of December. As soon as you can request that the better. Last year my son wanted to meet me in California at Disneyland for a week after American Thanksgiving was over and before the second week in December when it starts to get busy again. He started trying to arrange it in the fall - after several attempts he discovered the only week left, that wasn't already spoken for, was the first one in December - and he got it approved, the next day a sign went up backstage - saying No more time off before Christmas and that everyone had to work mandatory 6 day weeks at that time. My son still got his time off because it had been approved the day before the sign went up otherwise he would have been out of luck.

  13. My parents and sister are coming over at the beginning of August. Will it be possible to get a couple of days off to spend with them during that period?

Your chance of getting the time off will depend on how soon you can request it after you arrive and what program you're going on. If you are there on the ICP I believe you can post your shift and see if somebody else wants to take it for you if you don't get your time off approved.

U only get a week off after 9 months?! How do u know this? Is this a def fact?

Also, I am assuming that nobody can book off either Christmas Eve, Christmas Day or Boxing Day?

You have to be there 9 months before you get a week off! But there's other ways to get a whole week off, if you request a back-to-back and have some floating holidays at the same time, but it'll take a little time to get enough floating holidays too...

It's really hard to get anything off in christmas because it's so busy in the parks. But the earlier you request it, the more likely you'll get it.

As horrible as it sounds because I'm so close to my family.
I really think it's fine to not go home for Christmas. I think it'll be part of the experience to share it with your new "family"

I agree with Tracey...we'll probably be so busy at that time we won't have time to dwell on not being home. And hey Christmas at Disney! We'll probably end up with some awesome memories and great stories
