Travellors cheques VS Dollars

I'm takin a mix of travellers cheques and cash! don't know how much of each yet tho, gettin mine on thursday!

 

I reckon I'll take about a third of my money in dollars, and the rest in travellers cheques!

I'm taking all cash too cos i've been changing it in dribs and drabs as i've gone along. So if i get mugged i'm screeeewed.

I'm taking 2/3 travellers cheques and 1/3 cash..
Have you guys seen the new American Exprexx Travellers Cheque Card? It's basically the card equvilent of all those fiddely cheques, and you can pay-as-you-go on it, meaning you go online to load it up, which is great seeing as im gonna get a paycheque from working over summer in my bank when im there so i can go online and use my UK debit card to load up the Travellers Cheque card.. It's accepted everywhere American Express is, and is obviously much easier than cheques..

I'm taking about 2/3 travellers cheques and 1/3 cash. Hopefully it won't take too long to get a bank account set up and I can just dump my travellers cheques in it!

On the american express website they've got something new, an American Express Travellers Cheques Card, which is basically just your travellers cheques but on a card. You can use it in the shops and atms like a normal card and if it's stolen you can just cancel it like normal travellers cheques. I might get me one of these...

I'll take with me 1.5k in dollars and the money for the car in travellers.

 

I've got $500 on dollars right now. When I go to pay in my tax rebate check I'll see about getting that money changed into TC's

That american express card sounds interesting, may have to check it out. (ugh, pun not intended)

 

i'm taking a couple hundred in cash that i have left from trips. i'm going to the bank this afternoon to get a bunch of travellers cheques for our first week expenses and to put into my bank account i open down there.

Popped into thomas cooks today and asked about that new American Express Travellers Cheque Card. It sounds really good and you can use it at ATMs too but think you have to pay a fee for the actual card which is like £15. It does seem really easy to use though!

well just got all my travellors cheques and ill take a few hundred in cash....and i bought my toiletires so fun! by the by ppl....if any1 doesnt wanna cram a big towel in their case and just wants one for the first night/mornin till the WALMART BIIG SHOP..... i found in bodycare a "body wrap" like a thin lightweight towel its comes in a tiny little rolled up bag thingy great space saver! x

I went and got my traveler's cheques today. I had $500 in cash so I'll take that as it is, but I got $380 in travler's heques from the post office when I went into town this morning. I got them in denominations of $50 and $20, figured then no shop would get leary of cashing a hige amount.
