Hey so I know theres a bus that takes us from The Staff housing to the parks and wal mart, but does it go anywhere else? Whats within walking distance of the commons??? For those of us without vehicles will we have to continually bum rides to go places? lol THe last staff housing I lived at was in the middle of nowhere so it was hang out at staff housing or hang out at work
There's an awesome outletmall just across the street from Commons! There's also a buss to Florida mall, but I think it only went once a week. But there's also public transportation from the outlet mall, that will take you to florida mall, and I think it stops close to the mall at millenia, sea world, buch gardens, wet n' wild and most stuff on I-drive. EDIT: How could I forget about Kojak? Somebody smack me! Kjoak is the cheapest ride you'll get! If you need to go anywhere, he's a taxidriver, but he only drives people working for Disney ;D
About how far is the Florida Mall? Like how long would it take to drive there? Just thought that if it wasn't too far you could take a taxi there...plus if you went with a group everyone could split the fare so it could work out to be a cheap ride.
Florida Mall is not too far away, although it's on OBT which can get really busy so might take a while to get there during busy times. Mall at Millenia is easier to get to and better (in my opinion!!) plus it has a Cheesecake factory!! Taxis are really cheap esp if you're splitting them so you can get pretty much anywhere you want. Even better, hire a car for a couple of days and just take off to the beach, mall or wherever you want!
ooo yeh id much rather go mall at millenia. the only thing i didnt like though about the place is how the workers in gucci chanel etc looked at me, i went shoppin in shorts and t-shirt lol so they looked at me as if i was poor and was gonna steal somethin, wasnt a nice feelin to be honest
The I-ride bus stops outside Publix which is walking distance from the Commons so this takes you up and down international drive including Sea world and Prime outlet malls (not the best shopping place though). The Lynx bus stops here as well and also go from the TTC to various places like downtown Orlando. I went last year and didn't have a car and managed really well, my friends and I went all over the place. I went in June and for the first month we were there we had a bus from Chatham taking us to the Florida Mall and local post office and Bank as well as the normal bus service.
So as far as I know CM's ride the busses that go from the complexes to the parks for free...but what about the ones that go to Walmart, the Florida Mall, the beaches etc. how much does it cost?
All the busses from the complexes are for free... Also to walmart and florida mall. But it's not wise to use those busses to florida mall, I've heard it takes hours to get there. The public buss takes about an hour and costs $1.50 so it's not much! I'm not sure about the buss to the beach though, I never used it...
I don't think American Coach is that bad as someone here said! They're usually on time and get you there.
Whoever said to get the public bus to the mall - Errr! If the american coach bus is there, get it. It takes about half an hour, maybe a little longer, and its free. The public bus takes about an hour and a half, and goes through the rough places.
Also, american coach is included in your rent, so not really free. Its good enough as transport to and from work, but when it leaves 2 mins early and the bus driver waves to you as you run up to it, then drives off, you will realise how shit it it.
I never had any problems with the bus leaving early. It has been a little late once or twice, but nothing biggie, they got us to work on time, even the time when the driver ran down the security bar at the commons
You mean in general? It depends on the time of the day. For instance the Epcot buss is always full after the fireworkshow because a lot of people finishes work at the same time then. But other than that it's usually not a problem, you might have to stand, but you'll get to work
The staff busses to Magic Kingdom and Epcot run like every 20 minutes or less, the ones to Studios and Animal Kingdom a little less often. Downtown Disney is the worst that only runs about once an hour. A tip on Florida Mall (which is awesome btw) - take another bus to Vista first if you're in Chatham or Commons and catch it there because sometimes the bus gets full at Vista and so can't stop at the other places! The i-Ride trolleys that you can catch outside Publix (5 minute walk from Commons) are great and only $1. They go all the way up I-Drive to Universal though they don't actually go into the Universal Resort (have to walk in, not too far). There are two different lines Main and Green so be careful which you catch. The Green only comes like every half hour which is a little annoying. The Lynx busses can take you all over Orlando, but try to use the express ones if possible (ie into Downtown from Downtown Disney) because otherwise you will get stuck going through some pretty rough areas which you might not like. Aside from the Premium Outlets Mall and a few other stores/food places there really isn't anything within walking distance of the complexes so you will be pretty reliant on busses if you ain't got a car. But that won't prevent you from having an awesome time.
Just be warned, if you have to get the Epcot bus from Epcot after 9pm, you may be better off standing back and watching the whole of world showcase oush and shove, rather than be pushed and shoved yourself. It becomes apparant that some people have noo manners, and they will actually trample over others to get on the bus. I would rather wait 15mins for the next one.
