    Hey Guys,

I've noticed that ALOT of you have been saying your not going to be big partiers, and you won't drink. Thats fine, bt I just wanted to give you a heads up on this subject. EVERYONE down here parties hard, and the ones who don't usually end up sitting in their room, by themselves. There is very little pressure to drink, but you will be better liked if you drink. Every country has traditions they have to continue, and if you guys don't party, none of the older cast members are going to accept it very easily. I myself said when I came down here that I wasn't going to be a partier, and I lasted about an hour and a half before I was drunk when I got here, simply because EVERYONE parties. So, just saying that you may say now that you won't party, but when you get down here, it IS going to change.

Chase, I think you're a Cultural Rep, which I wasn't. I don't know what their social life is like. I can only talk as an ICP, and I can say that there wasn't any such pressure. Yes, a lot of people partied a lot. But there were also ICPs who didn't party, and were under 21 and didn't drink. Most importantly, they still had a fantastic time. You're not going to end up 'sitting in their room' by yourself all the time unless that's what you want (although yes, occasionally people do want space!!).

I know people over the past couple of days are trying to warn people, and it's good for people to know what life is like - and get a genuine impression. But I don't think it's good if people are being scared, and worrying about something they've been looking forward to for so long.

Florida has to much to do: I don't know anything with so much more! If you want to party, great. If you don't, I'm sure you can still have a wonderful experience!

Well I like to party :p in moderation, but I'm not risky termination by drinking because I'm under 21.

I can have a good time and not drink, it doesn't rule my life LOL

I also like my sleep :D

    What a weird subject...

It seems weird to me that most of the people can't imagine partying without drinking. Do you always have to drink to party? ??? I went to study in the US and people around me were ALL drinking...I was the only one not to and I have to say that I felt left apart sometimes (I was 21)...but it's OK! Sometimes I felt like I was wrong... like if not drinking was something bad... After a while, when people around get too drunk you have to leave the party anyway 'cause no one is interesting anymore. I hope I won't be the only one not drinking this time :-\

My father is an alcoholic and I can tell you I WON'T drink no matter what happens...I've been through a lot of american parties and you can ALWAYS say NO when you don't feel like drinking. Just don't put yourself apart because you don't drink. Who could be fool enough to drink just to please other people and be part of a group... it's like smoking cigarettes or whatever just because your friends do it, that sounds so 18-year old. We're supposed to be grown-up persons now so DO things for yourself, not for anyone else!

    See y'all in 4 days :)

    Uhm...yeah ok.

True that most people here party hard but there is nothing in relation to being liked and partying. At all.

If you don't drink, no one cares! You can be social and not drink. Locking yourself away in your room is a completely different thing to saying no to getting wrecked every night.

I dont think it's very fair for you to say that if we don't drink than we wont be as well liked. Maybe for someone that has the personality of a nat and isnt fun till he's hammered, that might be the case but I know that I dont need to drink to be liked.
I like the DVD party ideas, like a good ol' slumber party! Lol.

I know either way, I don't want to drink down there but I know it wont hinder my having a good time.
That and I'm a little antisocial anyway so my amount of friends doesn't affect my self esteem or anything like that.

    Wow!

I'm actually pretty shocked and saddened to see this post. :-\

I didn't drink one drop of alcohol during my 13 month program. I was 22 - 23 when I was on the IP; so age was not the issue. I just don't drink, never have, prob. never will. And I could probably count on one hand, the number of hours I spent in my apartment during the year!

Went to the most amazin parties, danced all night, got broken up by security (even at a non-alcoholic birthday party ;D) with my bubble gun in one hand and a can of Red Bull in the other. And the best part; I remember all of it. I probably have more random memories than most purely due to my sobriety. :D

The IP is a cultural program. It's about meeting people. All sorts of people. And that's what makes the year so amazing. I'm not sure whether things have changed (I think that unlikely) but it's my experience that you will be respected far more for being who you are rather than acting like you think you should, to fit in. People see though that pretty quickly.

And after all, a sober partier can be far more fun than a miserable drunk. JMHO. :-\

    Each to their own.

Your year is what you make it.

    Ona :)

I hadn't noticed this before I replied the first time. And I too am shocked to see it. A sub-culture where people are disliked for non-drinking is nasty. From what I saw as an ICP, and from what so many people have posted here, I don't believe it is this widespread. I simply don't.

I don't drink (and if I did, wouldn't have becuase of the 'law' thing :p); there were others who just didn't drink, and many more who didn't because of the law. And there was NO evidence of people being disliked for this. I can't believe this happens like you suggest.

Ona is sooo right. Your time there is what you make it. Make it *your* experience. And have the time of your life!

  19. ahhh I have to much to say, and reply to everyone's posts!

First off, Chace - if anything it sounds like YOU will like peopler better if they're drunk, speak for yourself not for everyone.
Encouraging people to do things they don't want to do is NOT COOL! Your statements sound very closed-minded and frankly - rude.

Guifly - I know what you mean with that one. In my mind, drinking is just lame! Even if I were 21 wen I go, I wouldn't not drink, it's just not my personality. People all being "sloshed" and really drunk is SO "I'm 18 and rebelling against my parents"

I will never be "alone in my apartment" unless I'm sleeping after a long shift. I plan on spending my year in Florida doing stuff, not wasting my time being drunk the whole time. I want to see the parks and resorts, go to the beach, go shopping, voluntEAR with Disney, do any extra cast member activities they offer and realy have a blast, but in my own way. Other sober's can join me if they want but I'm there for myself first, and to gain a year of independance.

Also - if you're underage DON'T DRINK! I know you all say that you can do it without getting caught, but HELLO this is such an amazing opertunity we have been given is it really worth throwing away so you can have a pint? No way. Sort out your priorities.

Chase! I'm so shocked to see you say that!
Do you look down on me and not like me because I don't party with you guys all the time? If you do, then you are not who I thought you were at all!
I love that I can choose if I want to stay home on a certain night when people go out. I have a whole year here, I can take my time doing things.
I have tons of fun when I drink and go out, but sometimes I don't.
I have tons of fun when I stay home, and sometimes I don't. I don't think you should speak for everyone Chase.
    Cheers,
    Mallory
