Hi everyone. I am comming to Disney on Feb. 7th, and would really love it if anyone of you who are already there could give me some tips about stuff that seems more or less important.

What to bring? How is it with cellphones? Should I bring my own, or buy one there, or just buy a SIM? Laptops - is it wireless connection, and can I use it in my appartment? What clothes are we suppose to wear the first days? When do we get to go to wallmart? Do I need towels? Is someone meeting us at the airport? When do we get to know what appartment to live in? How is training? How is work? How are the people, the bosses, the roommates?

Tell me everything!!! I'm so curious. But mostly, it you have any important and helpful tips, I'd be happy to hear from you!

wow thats a lot of questions lol

What to bring?; As much as you can!

How is it with cellphones? Should I bring my own, or buy one there, or just buy a SIM? I brought my own but figured that since the rates sky rocketed I may as well just get a new one. It's working out fine and pretty cheap for me.

Laptops - is it wireless connection, and can I use it in my appartment? Yes and yes

What clothes are we suppose to wear the first days? Smart. Pants/skirt and a nice shirt...something like that. Make sure it has sleeves...skirt not too short etc.

When do we get to go to wallmart? The bus runs most days from around 3

    Do I need towels? Yep

Is someone meeting us at the airport? Yeus!

When do we get to know what appartment to live in? When you get here

How is training? Boring but necessary

How is work? I like it :)

How are the people, the bosses, the roommates? Awesome, mostly cool and awesome

  3. hey Chloe thanks for all the info!!!

I'd like to know what are the few things most people end up forgetting and having to run to walmart to buy? It's those little things we all forget eh?

I am also wondering how much closet/personal space do we have for things like earring holders, small mirrors, alarm clock.
Do we get cheast of drawers too? Or just hanger closet space. Do we get our own bedside tables?
Thanks to anyone who replys :)

Ooo now I just feel helpful!

As far as things people forget...I can't think of anything I did - the stuff I got from Wal Mart when I got there was bed stuff etc. Nothing you could really bring with you.

Storage space: You have a closet with hanging space and other random space in there, chest of drawers with a big hooge mirror and a bedside table with a couple of lil drawers.

That doesnt sound too bad! and we dnt have to think bout leavin enuf space so that our costume doesnt get creased! thanx wardrobe! :)

    97 days!!

    oh, another question:

in F&B what is the earliest time that shifts start? Showcase dnt open while 11 does it but i guess that we start well b4 that? and as for closin - whats the latest time we can finish? (normal/extra magic)

Chloe; Tank you, you have been so helpful. Still there is more questions to come!

If you don't bring bed stuff with you (because, who would use up all their space in the suitcase for that??), do we get to go to wallmart the very first day to buy some bed stuff, or do we have to sleep without it the first night?

Nippy: No problem. I guess there is some questions that "all" newbies" ask... Confusing thing is that the more answers I get, the more questions I have!!

    Annnnd I'm on a roll!

F&B stuff I'm not really up on but the earliest I start in merch is 9:15. The stores close at 9:30 and we clock out at 10 (during the holidays - minus half an hour the rest of the year). Extra magic - close at 12:30 - clock out at 1:00. F&B can finish later because they have to wait for everyone to finish and leave.

Bed stuff...I didn't bring with me. Too much space! You will get the opportunity to go to Wal Mart the day you get here - it's 24 hours!

  11. Choloe you're my new hero! THank you so much for all the info...and since you're on a roll ;)
Do the apartments have dishwashers in them? (I'd assume not, but I can dream can't I?)
Also, I know the buildings have washer and dryers, but are they pretty far odd? Meaning, should I bring some sort of folding laungery hamper to tote my clothes to and from my apartment and the laundry room?

I'm about to become your absolute hero by telling you that we have both dishwashers and washing machines and tumble dryers in our apartments ;)

  13. IN OUR APARTMENTS?????!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is incredible!!! Honestly, for the price we're paying there is no way in a million years we'd be able to get anything even close to that off Disney property, that is so awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol, okay, last question I PROMISE....but what about cleaning supplies of all kinds, vaccuums, brooms, bathroom cleaning stuff, lysol, mr clean, kitchen cleaning things etc..................

    Lol not bad huh?

Cleaning supplies: you buy your own lysol etc and can borrow vaccuums, brooms blah blah blah from the club house :)

  15. ahhhh the club house, good to know!!! Thank you so much for all your info, it's so nice to have a place to get the little details instead of bothering cast-a-way all the time! lol

Is there ever any kind of problem with theft in the apartments? Like with valubles like laptops, cameras etc...I wouldn't think so but my mom keeps asking about that one :p

Happy Holidays to everyone!!! Only 3 more sleeps!!!

food and bev ppl can start at 3 different times,

10.45 am- setting up kitchen ad working an am shift
11 am - working an am shift
4pm- working the dinner or pm shift

you make work 11-30 am and do both lunch and dinner which is called a mid shift its like 11 hours, ive had 4 of those thiis wee, cmon overtime!!!!

we finish when all ur guests leave and ur end of shift side duties are done, so the latest a guest can be sat is 9.30 on a regular night or 10.30 extra magic, if they sit there till 11, u have to still be there, then u cash out, fold linens for silverware, between 11 and midnite ud finish on a normal night. thats y foodies have loadsa money and NO time 2 spend it lol. x

unless like me u go teh mall of millenia as often as possible like in 5 minutes g2g whoo

It is RIDICULOUSLY easy to have stuff stolen from you at the Commons. I was the last one to move into my apartment and my roommates had already decided (they had been there for almost three months) that we weren't going to have a party place. I agreed, but kept my laptop, travellers cheques, camera, etc. locked up regardless. As I got more comfortable with my housemates and knew there really weren't many people coming into our place I started to leave my laptop, camera, and whatever lying around. Low and behold, I got home late one night about a month and a half ago to find a cop at my apartment as one of my housemates in the other bedroom had her iPod stolen. I also had about $100 cash stolen from my [unlocked] locker. (Don't ask... I usually have my locker locked but had skipped out quickly the morning before and had forgotten to lock it.) Anyway, stuff does get stolen here. I figure the case in my apartment was the person just took stuff that he/she could quickly shove in his/her pocket as two laptops remained untouched. It sucks, but that's why you have a locker and why you should use it! One of the problems is that in many of the apartments the washrooms are in the bedrooms so anyone needed a toilet break has to go into a bedroom.

Anyway, bring a lock for your locker and keep valuables locked up. I know this seems a bit harsh, but they will tell you the exact same thing during your orientation. Honestly, it sucks - doesn't really make you feel that secure in your own apartment, eh?

Don't let it preoccupy you though! Just be smart about it :)

    See ya soon!

    Hi Jen,

So what you say is that we already have a locker in the room, we just have to bring a lock...that's great then 'cause I thought about buying one. Thanks for the info! ;)
