I'm worried that i have a week (interview on Monday 19th) to decide what i would like to be at Disney, i wonder for all those who have been interview or are about to be, what roles you would like to be? And if anyone knows how the roles work out? do you get to pick a certain one or park?

    thank you

Personally I loved operations (specifically if you get a major attraction which might not happen... you could be on parking lot trams), and foods was ok. I wouldn't be able to do custodial.

My "dream" jobs at disney would be in operations or entertainment so I'd be more likely to choose those. Think about something you would really want to do in the parks and go with that, because you never know you may get lucky and get the job you'ld love to have.

After picking your role preferences it's left entirly up to chance... you might not even get your first chose so don't worry too much about it, just pick a few you would really like and put those as your top choices.

Entertainment is the character side of things weither being a character (what I wouldn't mind doing) or a character assistant... at least I think Entertainment is the option.

Park Operations sounds like the kinda thing you'ld want to do with the speiling and stuff... but you could be any of the following, a show, a ride, Innoventions, Parking lot trams, monorail, etc. It's really broad so you never really know what you're gonna get.

This is what i posted on another thread..i was just guna say the same again..but couldn't be bothered to type it out! Hope this helps..
Jobs really vary in operations..But if you get a good one your sorted..One of my mates got car park attendant and the other got to drive the safari trucks in animal kingdom..they were both operations but its just the luck of the draw really..
I wouldn't advise merchandise though..because apparently you get alot of chew from guests and if your in a resort and not in one of the parks apparently it can be really boring..
I would say the top 5 best jobs are:
    Character
    Lifeguard
    Character Attendant
    Operations
Costuming - Although this is what i did..and there are two bad parts of it, Character room and main issue, luckily though i got put on spectromagic and disney dreams come true parade in magic kingdom and had an awesome summer..loved my job..

If your a character your all over disney really..you usually do sets tho..think its 40 minutes on and then 20 minutes off when its not as warm..and then 20 minutes on and 40 minutes off when it is extremely hot..not 100% on this..but pretty sure..

costume now sounds fun apart from the boiling heat!!!

  14. I think I'm going to put lifeguard down as my first choice, but I change my mind pretty much every day...
I wouldn't mind operations but I wouldn't want to be stuck in the parking lot for the summer. Having said that, I don't think there's anything I would say no to. :D

Is it possible to request a certain area or park? I know they put you wherever they need you and there's no guarantee, but do they ever consider requests like that?

Mate..to be honest..you can never be TOO tall to be a character..if your a tall height that knowbody else is..there's more chance that your unique and can be a character..you'll never be too tall or too small to be a character..
Most of the time..its that there's too many people the height you are..so you can't be a character..it's never that you can't be a character because your the only person that size..
I can't think off the top of my head which characters are that size..ill have a think and get back to you though..but its hard to think..because you just really see the sizes once and then you just sort of think of the people you know that are that height..
You don't switch costumes..you sort of get like about a 5 hour set usually..maybes more..depends really..when your on the college program you just fill in where the full people can't make it..
Basically you get your basics..which is a grey tshirt and navy blue shorts(or trousers) all really nasty to be honest! haha..
And then you get your costume..which you would just pick out of the character room..it kinda spoils the magic the first time you do it..coz the bodies are at the front and the heads are at the back..but if you need any help you just ask someone in the character room..which is a member of costuming..
As to answer the question about what someone in costuming do..
I worked in magic kingdom..In magic kingdom there are three costuming roles..
First role and probably the worst is main issue..No disrespect to foreign people coz they are really nice..but this is where the foreign people work usually..although i didn't work there..i used to go in there for my uniform and did my training there..they are really really nice people..but its not the best place..its really boring..its like really repetative to be honest..
Second place you can work is character room..which again is mostly foreign people to be honest..again really reallly nice..but again its really really boring..
It actually annoys people that they put all the people that can't really speak english in these two roles coz there all really nice..but thats disney for you..they can get away with being out of order..
The third and final role is parades..i suppose its two roles in a way because there's the day and night parade..but its one category i suppose..
And too be honest..these are the jobs that make costuming in the top 5 best jobs in disney i would say..
I worked on both parades which is the best you could wish for..at first i thought spectro was going to be abit annoying working so late at night...but there both amazing..and the characters are sooo nice..i made probably 50 new really good friends from being on them parades..they really love english people..and both the women and men are amazing..the men are top guys whether gay or straight..majority gay! haha..and the women are just..erm..hot really..hahaha..i promise you guys..these women are stunning ;) haha..anyway..i had a girlfriend at the time..which made if even worse..lol..
But yeah..costuming is a really top job if you get on the parades..most people get on the parades tho if you apply for costuming..my friend from england that i met there was on costuming..but she didn't get on the parades and then she asked if she could be on them..so they said they'd put her on them the last few weeks and they did which was pretty cool..
Sorry about the essay..but just thought i'd tell you about my experience in costuming and answer the questions i got asked!
Hope this helps..and hope i get the job so i can go back again!

i read somewhere that character roles are between 4'8" to 6'3" but i really hope ill be allowed to be one lol

Ah rite..yeah..actually that sounds about right..i think there is 6 foot 5 characters..there on the parades tho i think..I used to have a list in my pack..but i haven't seen it since the training day..so i must of lost it..
Im just trying to think though really..of any characters that are that height..i think your probably right tho..i no like goofy and things like that are around the 6"1-6"3..
Can't really think of any taller characters tho..
Also to be honest..there is no many people who are smaller than 4"8..and obviously if your like 7 foot 5 or sumthin your guna be abit tall..but i would say within reason..
4"8 is actually jiminy cricket..and there was only 2 people in the whole of disney that were this small from what i can remember..so it shows how rare it is for someone to be that height..
I think on the parades you can be a spectroman or fanfare if you are that height to be honest..because they are really tall and they just sit down really..
I know big bad wolf is pretty tall as well..i always thought he was about 6"4-6"5

baloo i think is tall aswell and brer bear... cant think who else is tall

Yeah..baloo's only 6"3 i think tho, same with brer bear..you'd think buzz lightyear was quite tall..but he's actually really small..and the most expensive costume in disney..
I think it costs about $60,000 for one buzz lightyear costume from what i can remember..all the prices used to be on the wall in the character room..they were a few years old..but i think they'll still be around the same price..
