Has anyone ever read the old fairy tales that most of the disney classics are based on?? Like Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White The Little Mermaid etc... IThere's different versions of course and most have not no much of a happy ending lol and are actually pretty frightening. I love folklore and mythology so I think they're pretty cool and interesting especially the origins of these tales...you never know, they could once have really happened lol. this is a link to a summary of the tale of Sleeping Beauty, the 2nd part of Perrault's narrative is pretty freaky... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleeping_Beauty
The Little Mermaid is Danish, and when I used to work in the Norwegian giftshop, we sold the originally story...hehe, not a whole lot of people realize that most of the Disney classics are based on old fairytales! ...when I studied in the states they sold posteres of the Norwegian painting "The Scream (Skriket)", which is a Norwegian painting, and everytime I told people, they were like; "Really???" I thought it was cool tho
the original little mermaid is really sad there's different versions but the best known one was written by Hans Christian Anderson...I think. i like the original snow white. i dont remember all thedetails but the queen actually comes to snow white in disguise like 7 times using different things to try killing her everytime, the dwarves saved her the 1st few times but then she brings the poison apple and that does it. the only other one i remember really was this poisonous comb...and im pretty sure that the dwarves didn't have names.
Yeah I've got the complete stories of Hans Christian Anderson book on my desk, I read the first two pages of it "the little mermaid" got bored and put the disney version on ha ha ;D
