    Hey guys

I've been reading the info on the graduate program again and its a bit confusing. Does anybody know how many hours/days/weeks is spent studying at UCF?

    This is what it says:

'Students will be able to choose four seminars from a series taught by Rosen College professors in two eight-week blocks. Each seminar would be taught for two hours, one day per week for eight weeks (16 contact hours). Seminars would be taught back to back with a thirty-minute break between.'

sounds like 16 days based over two 8 week blocks. You spend one day a week in those blocks in class. You have 4 two hour classes with 30 mins between each class (making a 10 hour day).

oh i only thought we did two courses. hmm dunno. just presumed we did it all on one day.

actually thinking about it. i bet we do two a term. hence why it is 16 contact hours. so for the first 8 weeks u do two back to back, then after christmas u have 8 more weeks on two other seminars?

You might be right about that with the Contact Hours... I assumed maybe you did 4 each term?

You do 4 out of the 9. If you do 2 in the first 8 weeks and 2 in the 2nd you only have 4 hours of classes a week. Thats a short day! But if you do all 4 courses and have a 10 hour day that would only take up one 8 week block. Not that I'd be complaining about only having 4 hours of classes a week - after being at uni and starting lectures at 12 noon i don't think i could handle full day!!!

i cant see it being a 10 hour day at all. firstly there wouldnt be enough time. 9 - 7?? lecturers wouldnt do that and secondly ud need time in between for lunch. 30 mins isnt enough.

also if u have 4 courses, for 8 weeks a term (cos im presuming u dont just do 8 weeks in the whole 6 months) then thats 32 contact hours.

universities in america begin classes at 8am and go go on until last scheduled class 8pm (I had classes from 8pm to 10pm) so it's highly possible for them to fit it in. Obviously you'll get a change around of professors/TAs teaching you during that day you do.

OMG, what have I signed up for. I thought we did four hours a week!!

Does that mean we only get one day off, because Disney only give us two and we need one to study?

Kim didn't have a clue about this program when I was interviewed.

We still get two days off a week, but we only work for 4 days a week at disney during the 16 weeks when we are at UCF and 5 days at disney for the other 10 weeks. 2 days off at all times.

but i dont understand. if its 4 two hour classes a week, then thats going to be 32 contact hours. which goes against what it says on the form.

I was going to apply for the program back in April, but declined due to personal reasons. But here is the information I still have:

Students will be able to choose four seminars from a series taught by Rosen College professors in two eight-week blocks. Each seminar would be taught for two hours, one day per week for eight weeks (16 contact hours).

It seems like you take 2 classes the first 8 weeks. Each class is 2 hours long, and in total 16 contact hours (over the 8 weeks).

Then you take the other two classes the second 8 weeks.

Do you think thats it, or does someone read this a differernt way?

I'm guessing the form your talking about is the PDF from Yummy? what it says is that there is 16 contact hours for 8 weeks, but it also says that there are two eight week blocks, so 16 contact hours x 2 eight week blocks = 32 contact hours in total.

The contact hours refers to each individual set of seminars not all the seminars combined.

I think your right apart from its four seminars in each 8 week block, not four in total.
