Hey everyone! I'm applying for the Summer Work Experience ICP and was just wondering how everyones interview for CRP went? What were you asked? How was it organised? How long did it take? Any tips to help me prepare? Thanks, Ash
Hi! The CRP interview went a little like this... You go in and register your attendance and they make sure that you have filled out all your forms. Then there's a while to wait around until the presentation begins, so chat to people, make friends, I guarantee that they'll all be lovely! Then you all get whisked off to the Disney Presentation where they'll tell you about the job, and ask you some trivia questions - there are prizes so do your research!! After the presentation everyone is assigned an interview time. We had 2 Disney recruiters on the day, and were in pairs for the interview. Depending on how lucky you are you wait around for either 30 mins for your interview, or a couple of hours (we all just hung out in the nearest starbucks!). You have to be at the venue 15 minutes before so that they can check through all your paperwork and ask you a few questions, like what name and homeplace you would want on your namebadge. This is a good time to speak to your interviewing partner about themselves. Your interviewer is looking to see how you get on with other people, so having a bit of a friendship is a good idea. You can also chat about why you want to work for Disney, then you wont both have the same answer! Then your name gets called... this is where my memory goes a bit blurry!!! Shake hands with your interviewer and tell them its nice to meet them, and they walk you into your room. The one thing I can say is I've never had a more comfortable interview... it is more like a 15 minute chat and I dont think the questions are ever exactly the same because they lead off what you have said. However, the first thing they ask you is about visible tattoos and piercings. Be honest... Disney are super strict on image. If you do have a visible tattoo they will do their best to give you a costume that covers it, if not you may be asked to cover it with makeup. Then the recruiter will ask you about why you want to work for Disney. This is your selling point, so really go for it! They'll ask you some generic questions to get the conversation going like what do you like about your current job or how do you deal with difficult guests, but hopefully the conversation will flow after that! Smile a lot, and listen to what your new friend/partner is saying and make eye contact with the recruiter. Most importantly be yourself! Its you they want to hire, not a smiling robot!! Afterwards you'll be hyperactive and want to run around a lot... or at least I was! But ask the recruitment agency (for us it is yummy jobs who are awesome people) any questions you may have. We were given a 3 week window where we could hear about the outcome, but yummy assured me it would be sooner. Then come on the boards here and talk to people about your experience! I'm currently driving myself crazy checking my emails every 30 minutes even though it has onlly been 1 working day! Luckily I can see on here that almost everyone else is in the same boat and has become obsessed with their emails! I'd also reccommend that you take people's details so you can add them on facebook etc. All the people who I met were SO nice, and hopefully I'll be spending a year with them in Florida so it makes sense to become friends now! Wishing you the best of luck, if you have any questions feel free to ask!! x
Thank you so much. I wasn't expecting such a detailed response from anyone. I really appreciate it. Are the recruiters working directly for Disney, or Yummy Jobs? (i.e., are they American or British?)
I definitely agree with trying to make contacts/friends with the people you interview with. For my interview a bunch of people met up for dinner the night before (from meeting on here!) And so the next morning when we were all so nervous so had some familiar faces which made it easier. Also the majority of the people I met at the interviews were the people I spent the year with in Florida! One girl even booked onto the same flight down as me so I arrived with a friend. Most people are weeded out after the phone interview, so if you make it to the face to face they want to hire you, so as long as you're not completely crazy or start swearing like a trucker or anything (pretty much if you're polite, smiley and answer all the questions, you're in! Good luck! It'll be soo much fun
Yeah thats what they say, if you make it that far they are looking to hire you pretty much as long as your not crazy or more into Daffy then Donald. Seeing that made my stomach flip : but still theres always that seed of doubt. Can't be sure until that email lands. And also meeting the people off here is a TOP IDEA. I've met some absolute mint people (you know who you are) & I think on the day when our nerves were getting the better of us, we really helped (well Elin certainly did) calm each other down! & during this waiting process at least you know people who are going through it & understand why your a bundle of nerves
