Switching? - f&b?

Hi

I will be participating in UK Merch in 2007.

I really wanted f&b, but have been put in Merch. Jason says it cannot be changed.

How easy is it to switch when you arrive?

Also, how much a week do servers/bar people make in the UK?

i knew a couple of people that switched from Merch to F & B, all be it a wee while ago, but they did it all the same.

Having worked in the bar, i would always recommend it, my mate worked in Service, and a good few times he got scuzzered by the Brits, ended up with bugger all after a hard days graft, and wasn't too happy. Whereas, i was lighting cigars with $50 notes

 

just looking at your pic glasgow paws, pans labyrynth was fantastic! and that guy with eyes on his hands was terrifying!!

yeah, you just knew that something shady was about to happen, found myself kinda shouting at the screen. She didnt understand me though, cos it was in Spanish

 

nope :-\ i think it might have been sumthing to do with the bar. but then again, maybe not coz i cant think of anything i want to know about the bar. boo, this is annoying me!

A couple of people switched while i was out there but that wa sonly from foods to merch and then it was only cos of medical reasons and then when merch were so understaffed and foods overstaffed that some people were kinda made to switch i think.

Never knew of anyone switching the other way, foods always seemed to have more than enough staff!!

But if you can it is so worth switching even if just for the moeny =and if you can once in foods get into the bar!! I was a server and i made plenty of money but the bartenders made so much more in tips - and they got paid more an hour than us too - how crazy is that!!

As I was leaving in march they were trying to organise it so that people were cross-trained on bar and service so once you were in service your shofts could be bar, server or food runner. Not sure if this ever happened properly though!!

I had a phonecall from Suzy today and she said that there was no way I could change from Merch (as a formality, I didn't ask). But that's for the summer programme, so it might be different and so I should be quiet now...
