Hey I guess this would apply to those party people who are already down there. I was wondering, that while we are working the F&B stands outside, are we allowed to wear sunglass with our costumes? Robyn 8)
No, unfortunately not. Did you check the Disney Look Book? It gives you the exact reason why... In outside foods you will have a lot of guest contact and even though it might be bright outside the sunglasses will seriously discredit your costume as well as hinder "proper guest contact"... or something like that... I've never seen anyone in outdoor foods (World Showcase) wear sunglasses either. But usually its not a big problem, cuz you will have some form of shade in form of a roof or the placement of the cart being under a tree. I pity the people doing ice cream carts in MGM though...
We didn't have a problem wearing sunglasses whilst working outside on the carts in merch. ??? So long as they were Disney Look sunglasses it was fine. i.e. not mirrored or brightly colored, so that the guest can still make eye contact. Remember "Always make eye contact and smile." Which guest service guideline was that one? Lol. ;D Ona x
I do believe that's number one in the 7 service guidelines Ona!!! Quite sad that I remember that! Here's a test...............what was number 3???? ??? Wearing sunglasses outside is ok, as Ona said as long as they are not mirrored or brightly coloured. I used to wear mine on carts but would make a point of taking them off when I spoke to a guest. To be honest in the UK Pavilion the carts are under the shade of a big tree so you don't really need sunglasses. I used to wear them all the time though when I worked outside on Castaway Cay with the cruise line! Definitely needed them in that bright Bahama sunshine!!!! 8) Marie, hope your exams went ok. Good luck for your Disney year! Take care, Laura. xxx
I wore them outside on the Carts in Canada too. I know foodies who did as well. As long as they are on your face and not on your head (oops...mine were lots). I tried to flip them up to my head when I was talking to people though too. Shan
Awesome guys...thanks for the info...don;t know what i would do if i couldn't wear any, but i do like the mirrored kind
well robyn looks like ur gona have to cope. i knew u would after the pics i have of u with sunglasses on they r all mirrored!! xxx
if they have a problem with it id challenge it on the bases that eye doctors highly recommed to e\wear sunglasses durring the summer as it is dangerouse for your eyes....... I live in sunglasses especiallyin the winter becaus eof the glare from the snow here in canada... sheena
