Hey Im sure that a lot of you did trips outside of Florida when u were there! I went to New York in Aug 2003 and had a fab time! Apart from 1 moment.... I was walking back to my hotel with a friend, and accidently walked straight into this women. She actually fell over about two feet from me. As I went over to see if she was ok, she got up and started hitting me with her Gucci handbag/purse over and over again! Imagine this UK tourist gettin beaten up by a women swinging her bag at me full force several times right in the middle of Mannhatten surrounded by about 50 people just stareing!! Good times...........mmm.... Any funny stories out there! Dan
Well I don't know how "funny" this is, but one time my friend and I went to Miami for a few days. It was right in the middle of the Art Deco festival, and there were thousands of people walking around Miami Beach. Well who do we run into but another group of WDWIP folks!!! It was so weird! We didn't even know they were going to be there!! Ah, I can here it now "It's a small world, after all...."
Hmm I went with a friend of mine to NYC and she had begged for the time off, but only got 2 days ( we stayed for 4 ). So we thought about what to tell work, because she really desperately wanted to go. She called in and said she had diarrhea. Just as she said that the elevator door in the back opened with a loud "biiiiiing"...I laughed my ass off, obviously we didn't have elevators at the Commons, so the managers must've known she was lying. We stayed anyways and had an awesome time! Another fun trip was to the Keys right after the Mardi Gras party at the Commons. The two friends I went with weren't that much into the whole partying scene, so they decided we meet up at 4am!!!! So of course I went to the party, got insanely drunk and made my way back to my apt. around 2am. Gladly I had packed before I went ( I know myself ), so I passed out on my bathroom floor, sooo sick and drunk. At 4am my friend pulled up and she was like "front deat or back seat" and I just fell onto the back seat and totally passed out again. I must have smelled like a whole spirits fabric! It was soooo bad! And we had to stay in that car for like 10 hours lol Don't think I have to mention how much my friend hated me! Julia
Wow! Glad I wasn't in that car Julia! This one isn't so much funny as ultra magical. Me and a friend went to California on a trip. Yes, to Disneyland. : Self-confessed Disney Dork Therapy Trip. ;D First, I should point out that there are no character greeters in disneyland. The characters have attitude and can take care of themselves. Thus, they wander around on their own. Anyway, we toured each of the Disney Hotels and discovered the most amazing collection of Disney memorabilia on display in the Disneyland Hotel. There was noone around at all and we were simply mesmorized for ages; both of us staring into the glass cases with our jaws trailing on the carpet. After a while (prob. several hours ;D ) I had that feeling that I was being watched. As I turned around, there was Goofy standing with his arms folded staring at us staring at the display. He must have been there for a while as it was in a long corridor. He turned from me and then continued to stare at my friend who was still engrossed in the display. I had the biggest grin on my face. Eventually my friend turned to me only to see that I was grinning at him. He then noticed Goofy. Goofy gave a big ole' belly laugh, waved and went on his way. I was absolutely the most magical disney moment I have ever experienced. So random. Ona x
Ooooo just thought of a funny one. ;D On a road trip via random hicksvile, florida, I saw Daniel O'Donnell buying hundereds of those $9 watches from walmart. ;D ;D ;D Ona x
Oh this was interesting... In my on going search for randomness, in Feb 04 in spent 4 days with a friend in Kentucky!!! I met this girl who had done the college program and then decided to go and pay her a visit (Ona remembers this) One of the days I was there we took a road trip and ended up driving through some parts of Tennessee, Missouri, South Illionois and random parts of kentucky which included visiting the biggest Firework shop ive ever seen! After 6 1/2 hrs driving we got back to hers and ended the evening the only way we knew how.....PLAYING SCRABBLE!! But hey never would I thought id have the chance to visit these 'interseting' places!! BRING ON THE DIVERSITY!! Dan
rented a car and drove to Savannah, Georgia Got to savannah had splendid afternoon/night boogying - carried on further up north and went south carolina day after for a few hours..... trying to find a beach on a island took us 3hours!!!! they were all private and we were thick ... so went fishing and ate oranges under a bridge Decided to leave Hilton Head, S.Carolina at 5pm - had to be in work for 10:30 next day all 3 of us (...hmmm...) bought some Bumble Bees to keep us awake from Hicksville gas station (one of side effects = 'death') - took far too many - got back at 3am at commons then couldn't sleep - took car back morning after only to realise it was limited mileage :-\ we had exceeded it by 400 miles.... we were also not supposed to leave the state... :-\ .. (told them we went to the Keys) "who goes to the Keys in 48hours?!??!?".... but hey - i was in work for 10:30 and was grateful to be playing chess in Crown and crest could tell lots of stories about my Walmart tent trips but they are odd and i guessed you would have had to be there! ciao :-*
hmmmmmm funny stories about trips outside of wdw? good topic dan! cept im tryin hard to think of trips i went on, the year is still a blur sometimes! il never forget the trip to las vegas that i took with ona and charlie, that was so much fun, the whole thing, i guess the most unforgettable part was the flight home where i nearly died of fright and ona rambled on about dalmation coloured guinea pigs!!! lol thats my contribution for tonite anyway, wen i think of some more trips outside of wdw il post them, love loobie xxxxxxxxx
Some friends and I drove up to Alabame for one reason: To find COWBOYS! And we sure did, at a local bar called (can you imagine) COWBOYS! We had a great time, they all had cowboy hats, and shirts and they even did linedancing to live music! The singer came over to us during the show and had a talk, and before we left the manager came and said we would always be welcome there! They didnt want us to leave! Anyone know the song "....save a horse, ride a cowboy"!? lol
Lol! My Canadian ex-roomie has a t-shirt saying that. ;D Lol loobie how could I could I forget about the dalmatian guinea pig!!! Especially now with little Walt and Roy over in the corner makin funny noises (my new baby guinea pigs; gotta love the names ). Now there's a pharase you don't hear very often. ;D It really is all about the randomnes out there. Life back at home just doesn't seem to campare in terms of sheer randomness. : ;D Ona x

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, well I went on quite a few trips while I was there and everyone that knows me knows I always have a story to tell!!!!! My first trip was a road trip to Miami with 3 friends. We drove down on a late Thursday evening with the intention to stay until Monday. First, we got a bit lost on the way down with the journey taking round 6 hours!!!!Then on the Friday morning we went down to the beach and got so burnt and we had to spend the afternoon back at the hotel in bed and drive back to Orlando the next day. Honest to god I was soooooooo burnt, we took a picture of my back as it was so bad and it looks like I'm wearing a white bra and I was so burnt around my bum that everytime I sat down I was in agony. Another memerable trip was Las Vegas. We decided to take a helecopter ride over the Las Vegas strip at night and were told the helecopter place was just a bit past Mandalay Bay hotel(for a tourests point of veiw Mandalay bay is the end of the strip as there is nothing interesting beyond it). It was a nice evening so we decided to walk there!!!So we walked all down the strip, past Mandalay Bay and we're still walking, still walking, still walking, walking, walking, walking, walking, walking, walking, we then walk past the Las Vegas International Airport and then the Welcome to fabulous Las Vegas sign, walk a bit more, we were tired and had blisters on our feet when finally we were almost there and all we need to do is walk over this grass!!!!so guess what happens next? we're walking over the grass and are right in the middle when the spinklers go off!!!!!we got WET. However it was all worth it when we finally got on the helecopter. Wicked night. Jess xx
