Hey guys ~ I'm wondering if Disney actually throws us staff parties. I realise we'll be hanging out lots together at the Commons and at work, but it would nice to have a party for which Disney foots the bill! I mean, they are a huuuuge company - I can't imagine its HR department wouldn't do something for its staff around Christmas or at some point in the summer. As well, do we ever get a chance to meet any of the higher ups? Say, VP of Theme Parks or something? ~ Jen
We had a party for Canadian Thanksgiving. It worked out well because the park was closing early that day for a media thing. The restaurant supplied a bunch of food and the location and we all also brought stuff too. We also had a Canada Day party backstage with loads of food provided by the restaurant and they gave us some prizes too. Merchies had a movie night once where we went to American Garden Theatre and watched Pirates of the Caribbean with the Merchies from the other World Showcase West countries (UK & France). When Brother Bear was released, Canadian Merchies got to go to a screening at the AMC because we were going to be selling the products! They often have celebrations in the Cast Services hallway. We had free ice cream a couple times and there were sandwiches and stuff on New Years Eve. There are lots of parties at the Commons, Vista and Chatham that housing organizes. There are lots of perks.
